Lincoln Park
Neighborhood in Mankato, Minnesota
Blue Earth County 56001
Unique 20th-century architecture for the Mankato area
On a quick walk through Lincoln Park, it’s typical to see Victorian, Queen Anne, Arts and Crafts, and Cape Cod homes from the early 1900s. Brightly painted houses with decorated gables line Lincoln Street, and spires are a common sight along Center Street. Many homes have over 3,000 square feet, and some extend to nearly 5,000 square feet. Prices range from $180,000 to $280,000. Single-family homes make up more than half of Lincoln Park, but a few apartment complexes with brick exteriors are mixed in near the Hubbard House and the Blue Earth Historical Society. Each home has a concrete driveway, and many have detached garages facing the alleys. Sidewalks run throughout the neighborhood, connecting houses to two parks and downtown in less than a mile.Pocket parks, history and the arts in Blue Earth County
The neighborhood’s namesake park, Lincoln Park, displays a memorial for Union soldiers of the Civil War at its fountain. The pocket park also includes a shady bench area ideal for reading a book from the Blue Earth County Library. Malda Farnham Park is in the northern part of the community and features a flower garden with open green space and seating just across from the Hubbard House. The Lincoln Community Center offers programming through Mankato Community Education and Recreation, including introduction classes for hobbies like pottery and piano. The center also hosts performances from The Merely Players, a community theater group that’s been part of Mankato since 1982.Childcare through ACES and access to Mankato West High

From here, students can head to Prairie Winds Middle, which gets a B-plus, and Mankato West High, an A-graded school that ranks as the best public high school in Blue Earth County on Niche. The high school offers unique athletic programs like alpine skiing and gymnastics, which contributes to the school’s rank as the best high school in the state for athletes on Niche. Lincoln Park is only a mile from Minnesota State University’s Mankato campus, a college serving about 14,000 students a year.Night to Unite and Kiwanis Lights
The lawn outside the Lincoln Community Center is just as much a place to connect with neighbors as the center itself. One of the most popular events held there is Night to Unite, which takes place at the end of August. “Night to Unite is for everybody in town. All the neighbors get together and grill out, and the public safety officials will show up,” Yokiel says. “It’s fun for kids, too. It’s a great community event that provides an opportunity to meet your neighbors, meet with public safety staff, and build a safer community.” In the winter, the holiday festivities of Kiwanis Lights are only about 2 miles away at Sibley Park.Buses to River Hills Mall and proximity to downtown
The Greater Mankato Transit System bus stops along Cherry Street and heads to River Hills Mall. Glenwood Avenue is the main thoroughfare for heading east, while Broad Street is the connector to downtown Mankato and the Mankato Civic Center Grand Hall, both of which are less than a mile away.Long-standing restaurants a block away on Front Street
A Cub Foods location is about a mile away for groceries, and the national retailers at River Hills Mall are about 4 miles away. Restaurants are much closer, with Front Street only a block west. For the last 20 years, Fillin’ Station Coffeehouse has caffeinated the community. Pagliai’s Pizza is another long-standing neighborhood establishment slinging pizzas since 1969. Other options nearby include Nolabelle Kitchen + Bar, a popular spot with American cuisine made from locally sourced ingredients.
