Strabane is located next to I-79, which meets with I-376 near Rosslyn Farms for an easy route to Pittsburgh. There is no public transportation in Strabane, and residents are car-dependent. Union Grill in Downtown Washington serves hearty Italian dishes in a rustic atmosphere. “One of the major staples of the area is Sarris Candies,” says Bradley. “It’s a local candy shop, and people travel really far to get candy there. It’s a cool chocolate factory experience, and there's a huge, giant chocolate castle.” Sarris Candies is known for its chocolates, but it also has its own ice cream shop. Meadows Casino has a popular food court that houses Bistecca, an award-winning steakhouse and wine bar. Meadows also offers bowling and hosts concerts. Retailers, groceries and other necessities are available along I-79 and Jefferson Avenue.Important to know
While Chartiers Creek is near the Strabane area, there is no risk of flooding “unless you’re right beside the creek,” says Herrington-Tubbs. It is a similar case with I-79, which passes close by the neighborhood. Strabane is a raised area and residents would have to live beside the interstate to hear it.
