Meadow Oaks is a golfing community close to Florida’s west coast

There's no shortage of golf courses in Central Florida, and the residential community of Meadow Oaks has one of the most prominent. Established in 1984, the Meadow Oaks Golf & Country Club boasts a challenging and scenic 6,000-yard course that's open to the public. Meadow Oaks has grown into a community of eight villages with more than 3,000 residents, and in that time, the club has expanded to include a pro shop and an on-site restaurant, all within about 10 miles of Florida Gulf Coast beaches. “There’s a lot of nature,” says Nako Kellum, a local resident and an elder with the Faith Methodist Church of Hudson. “It’s kind of like a wetland. You see birds and deer every once in a while. It’s almost like they’re living with us.”

Contemporary stucco homes and new bi-level builds

Most stucco houses are tucked between ponds and cul-de-sacs north of Buckhorn Creek. Most homes were built in the '80s and are less than 1,500 square feet, costing between $100,000 and $200,000. Some of the newer homes built between the '90s and the 2000s can have up to half-acre lots and cost $200,000 to $300,000. There's a mix of contemporary, craftsman and Florida architecture throughout the community, with front yards having plenty of palm trees, sidewalks and small gardens. Some even have docks with boat access into the ponds. New open-concept and bi-level homes under construction are between 2,000 and 3,500 square feet and range from $300,000 to $500,000.

An 18-hole golf course with a pool and clubhouse

The crown jewel of Meadow Oaks is undoubtedly its illustrious 18-hole golf course, which features miles of terrain filled with Bermuda greens, sand traps and oak trees. Membership packages can include golf cart rentals, and there are additional sports facilities next to the pro shop. “We spend a lot of time outside,” Kellum says. “There are tennis courts, pickleball courts and a pool, and the clubhouse will have a different event every month.” Many churches south by the highway also have their own playgrounds and youth programs.

STEM education through Pasco County Schools

The community is zoned for Pasco County Schools, which earns a B-plus on Niche and manages over 80 campuses. Moon Lake Elementary serves kindergarten through fifth-grade students and earns a C-plus, while the B-rated River Ridge Middle has computer science and engineering courses. River Ridge High School earns a B-plus and has a 22-to-1 student-teacher ratio and a 95% graduation rate.

Breakfast and lunch at Meadow Oaks Restaurant

Meadow Oaks has a full-service restaurant between the first, ninth and 18th holes that serves breakfast and lunch. Breakfast platters include hubcap pancakes, Brioche French toast, egg sandwiches, breakfast burritos and corned beef hash. Lunch service runs from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and features hamburgers, sandwiches and wings along with bacon cheese fries, chicken fingers and loaded nachos. The restaurant also hosts a fish fry special on Friday evenings. Outside of the community, there are a few chain restaurants, including Dunkin’ and Domino’s Pizza, and an Aldi grocery store opened in New Port Richey in September 2025.

GOPASCO buses on State Road 52

State Road 52 runs along Meadow Oaks’ south side and leads to U.S. Route 19 around 8 miles west and State Road 589 around 5 miles east. GOPASCO buses provide public transportation between Bayonet Point, the elementary school, the west campus for Pasco-Hernando State College and the Gulf View Square Mall over 10 miles southwest. The HCA Florida Bayonet Point Hospital is open 24 hours, and the Tampa International Airport is around 35 miles south.
