The neighborhood is home to a downtown area toward the east, where residential streets can be found, alongside a few local restaurants and shops. The homes of Meeker

The residential areas of Meeker are found in both a small pocket located in its community’s downtown area and dotted throughout the surrounding rural areas. Near downtown are ranch-style homes that sit atop land averaging around 0.4 acres. The modest front yards share space with mature shumard oak and evergreen trees, which are spread throughout the neighborhood. Most homes were constructed in the late 1930s through the mid-to-late 20th century, with its oldest homes situated downtown. Rural parts of the community are made up of straight, narrow roads that run parallel to crop and livestock fields that stretch into the horizon and are surrounded by forested areas. Those looking to purchase a home can expect a price range from $80,000 for a three-bedroom home to $482,000 for a larger, recently constructed four-bedroom home alongside spacious acreage. Buyers can also consider purchasing a plot of land and building a custom home from scratch. Land sales in Meeker range from $12,000 for a one-acre lot to $365,000 for a 53-acre lot.

Explore the waters of Lake Meeker

Thanks to nearby ponds and quarries, there are plenty of ways for residents to make their own fun. However, Meeker is also home to established parks like Lake Meeker for locals to explore. “Locals frequent the lake during summer months,” says Wilbourn. “We are currently working on upgrading the walking and biking trails, as well as adding a frisbee golf course to the park.” Residents also enjoy fishing for largemouth bass and channel catfish in the lake, alongside boating and picnics. Glenn Crest Park is where residents make convenient trips to the neighborhood playground.

Eat nearby and shop in Shawnee

“We have a few stores and local restaurants,” says Wilbourn. “However, residents head to Shawnee to do their shopping.” One of these local restaurants is Ladonna’s Grill, a country-style café that serves American dishes like its popular chicken fried steak. Another community staple is L.E.’s Burgers, which has been around for decades and is appreciated for its old-style cheeseburgers. Grocery shopping can be done in town at Anthony Foods along South Dawson Street, but all retail opportunities are located south in Shawnee. A 10-mile drive via OK-18 South carries residents to the nearest Walmart Supercenter. The area is also home to Shawnee Mall, which hosts popular retailers such as Dillard’s, Journeys and more.
