A hillside Ojai community
Among rolling hills in the southern California countryside, Meiners Oaks is a quaint community just west of Ojai and roughly 3 miles from its downtown. Vineyards and orchards lie between the area’s residential pockets, and minimal traffic allows for a quiet, countryside atmosphere. The community is a short drive south of numerous scenic hiking trails. “The Ojai Valley has drawn in a lot of creatives from the Los Angeles area, especially since the COVID-19 pandemic, and Meiners Oaks is no different,” says Rosalie Zabilla, a local real estate agent with Sotheby’s International Realty. “The streets are lined with oak trees, which is what gives the community its name. It feels like a getaway from the busyness of bigger towns like L.A.” Meiners Oaks has a population of roughly 3,900, and most residents take the short commute to Ojai for work or the 14-mile drive south to Ventura. While there are few employers in Meiners Oaks, prominent industries in Ventura County include agriculture, manufacturing and tourism.
