Just 16 miles from downtown, Fox Meadows is a Southeastern Memphis suburb known for its namesake golf course. Local Realtor Cresha Rounds, who has nearly a decade of experience selling homes in the area with Adora Realty, says the neighborhood is the type where people stay long-term. “You can find homeowners that have lived here for 20 to 30 years and still love it,” says Rounds. “Fox Meadows is close to shopping, schools and transportation: Homebuyers get good value for their money.”

Single-story homes offer three to four bedrooms
Fox Meadows’ houses vary in style. There are ranch-style homes with three to four bedrooms, brick exteriors and attached carports, as well as Colonial Revivals with columned front porches and up to four bedrooms. Most houses are of mid-20th century vintage and showcase exterior wood accents popular at that time. Single-family home prices start around $150,000 and range to $300,000. “Here, you can get a single-story home with a nice yard for under $200,000,” says Rounds. “In other parts of Memphis, you can’t get those same amenities for that price.”
Fox Meadows offers mostly single-family homes, but there are also condo communities on the neighborhood’s outer streets. Near The Links Golf Course at Fox Meadows are two-bedroom condos priced between $30,000 to $50,000 on average.

Sporty locals walk to The Links for tee time
The community revolves around The Links at Fox Meadows, a city-run public 18-hole golf course. The course is open to the public from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. every day except federal holidays. In addition to public play, fundraising tournaments are often run at the 6,545-yard course. It is one of seven city run golf courses.
Across the street, Wilson Park focuses on outdoor recreation, in the form of playgrounds, soccer fields and lighted softball diamonds. Nearby is East End Skating Center, an indoor roller-skating rink complete with arcade games and concessions.

Elementary school students can walk to the local public school
Properties in Fox Meadows are zoned in the Shelby County Public School District, which received a C-plus from Niche. Students may enroll in Fox Meadows Elementary School—notably within walking distance of most residences— and continue to Hickory Ridge Middle School and Wooddale High School. All three schools received C-minus grades from Niche. Wooddale High School is the only school in the area with a specialized focus on Information Technology. It offers industry certifications that help begin students' careers upon graduation.

Bus routes and major highways make it easy to travel
Fox Meadows is just south of major thoroughfares State Route 385 and I-240, offering access to downtown and I-40, which connects Memphis with Nashville, 205 miles east. For shorter trips, the Memphis Area Transit Authority offers public bus routes. The MATA’s Route 69 bus stops along Winchester Road and loops downtown multiple times a day. For longer trips, the Memphis International Airport is 9 miles away, offering connecting and direct flights from several airlines. Fox Meadows is about 4 miles south of the Saint Francis Hospital’s Memphis location, which offers rehabilitative care, a full-service emergency room and a variety of specialists.
Local dinners are picked from the Apple Tree
Just a few minutes’ driving distance is the Apple Tree Shopping Center. The shopping center is home to multiple restaurants and shops, including Viva Mexico, known for authentic Mexican dishes and live music. Also in Apple Tree is the neighborhood’s largest supermarket, Walmart Neighborhood Market. Just east of Fox Meadows is Hickory Hills, a retail hub known for its Memphis-style cuisine. A & J’s Catfish Station is a casual wood-paneled diner that serves fried fish, while The Grille at Hickory Hill sells classic Memphis barbeque alongside southern-style macaroni and cheese.
Fox Meadows residents do much of their grocery shopping at Neighborhood Market.

The East End Skating Center hosts monthly and seasonal events, including an annual Skate or Treat. This Halloween party invites locals of all ages to wear costumes while trick-or-treating and roller-skating at the center’s indoor rink.
