However, the most popular park in the area is Shelby Farms Park, one of the largest urban parks in the country at 4,500 acres. The park has over 40 miles of walking trails, a community garden and even a herd of buffalo, which have lived there since 1989. Fishing is popular in the park at several lakes and ponds. “All of our lakes are stocked by the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency,” says Todd Adams, a Realtor with Keller Williams and third-generation Memphian. “In the early spring, they put trout in our freshwater lakes. They do die by June, so they want you to catch them and take them out. So you’ve got kids of all ages fishing, and they’re really pretty to catch.”
