Thoughtfully planned, Eastmark offers spaces to socialize and recreate

Eastmark is a master-planned community about 35 miles east of Phoenix, which used to be a hot weather vehicle test site for General Motors vehicles. When the facility closed in the early 2000s, the acreage was sold to developers and various home builders, including DMB Development. To the north of the area is the Technology Enterprise District, with various data and operations centers and companies. “It’s a wonderfully designed community with great gathering spaces for family and friends. There are terrific amenities and trail systems throughout the thoughtful neighborhoods and landscaping pallets,” says Brad Schoenberg, regional president at Taylor Morrison. “It also offers convenient access to great schools and transportation corridors, a major plus for working families.”

Communities with townhouses and single-family stucco-sided homes

Eastmark’s communities showcase a variety of architecture. The Echo Village area has contemporary stucco-sided homes built by Landsea Homes, New Traditional houses constructed by D.R. Horton and Mediterranean-influenced townhouses built by Lennar. "There are so many community amenities that it’s a great place to meet people,” says Realtor Kim Panozzo with Home Smart, who has been in real estate since 2002. “Depending on where you live in the community, you could be in a gated community, and some of those also have their own community pools.”

The Estates at Eastmark is a gated community with many stucco-sided New Traditionals built by Taylor Morrison with Craftsman features, all lined along sidewalks that run parallel to the streets. Lamps illuminate these paths, guiding walkers in the early morning and late evening. Single-family home prices range within each community, going from around $410,000 to $1.5 million, depending on home size and builder upgrades. Townhouses range from $390,000 to $410,000.

The CAP Index Crime Score in Eastmark is 2 out of 10, lower when compared to the national average of 4.

Neighborhood with Gilbert Public and Queen Creek Unified schools

Canyon Rim Elementary School, for kindergarten through sixth, earns an A grade from Niche. Desert Ridge Junior High School, for seventh and eighth, receives an A-minus. Desert Ridge High School scores a B-plus overall and prepares college-bound students with dual enrollment and Advanced Placement (AP) courses. Queen Creek Unified School District also offers open enrollment and spans Eastmark to the south. Kindergarten to sixth-grade students may attend Silver Valley Elementary School, which earns an A-minus overall. Eastmark High School serves seventh to 12th, and maintains a B.

Neighborhood parks, The Mark community center and outdoor recreation

Eastmark has over 75 neighborhood parks, some of which are gardens, while some are open spaces with playgrounds. Eastmark Great Park sits in the neighborhood’s center and includes The Mark, a community center with a room nicknamed “The Bus Stop.” This transportation-themed game room features a Scrabble wall, arcade games and booth tables built into a bus structure. Palm trees tower over lounge chairs and the pools outside The Mark. Eastmark Great Park features a netted climbing structure named the “Orange Monster,” multipurpose fields and trails. The Deck is a skate park spanning over 3 acres, and The Disco is an 18-hole disc golf course with 10 exercise stations located along the course.

Steadfast Farm products, Safeway and a 1950s-themed diner

The neighborhood has a strip mall with a Safeway, fast food restaurants and a local Mexican restaurant chain, Boca Taqueria. Steadfast Farm, which sits over 2 acres, sells its eggs and produce at the onsite store, as well as at its farmers marke on Sundays at Eastmark Great Park. Steadfast Coffee has a walk-up window at the farm store. Nearby, Steadfast Diner serves American fare on the outdoor patio and, inside, where black-and-white checkered floors make for a 1950s vibe. In Mesa Market Place’s open-air warehouse, local vendors operate from Friday to Sunday. Superstition Springs Center is a traditional indoor mall with national retailers and department stores.

Technology Enterprise District off Loop 202, Eastmark’s tie to Phoenix

Apple and Facebook have offices in the Technology Enterprise District. Dignity Health Arizona General Hospital is nearly a 3-mile drive away. East Ray Road connects the neighborhood to the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport, which is roughly a 7-mile drive away. The airport provides direct flights to domestic destinations as far east as Flint, Michigan. Loop 202 and U.S. Route 60 lead to Phoenix, including the Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, about 30 miles away.
