A premier shopping center and nearby supermarkets

Crossing Greenberg Road takes folks to Washington Square, a premier shopping mall home to the biggest Nordstrom, Dick’s Sporting Goods and Macy’s in Oregon. “The mall is a huge draw to the area,” says Ty Lankheet, a local real estate agent with Premiere Property Group LLC. “People are close to tons of amenities and lots of restaurant options.” Along with its expansive department stores, the mall also features over 100 shops and restaurants. Thirsty Lion Gastropub & Grill offers an eclectic selection of pub bites, with popular menu items including the spicy fried chicken sliders and the Szechuan orange chicken. “Margharita Factory is a new one that just opened,” Lankheet says. “It’s become pretty popular and has a nice atmosphere for indoor and outdoor dining. It’s a good area for new restaurants due to the shopping traffic.” For everyday shopping needs, residents are within minutes of the nearest Walmart, Fred Meyer, WinCo Foods and Whole Foods Market.

Green spaces and sports facilities near Metzger

Metzger Park offers pine-shaded picnic tables, a playground and basketball and tennis courts. Dickinson Park is home to play equipment and open field space. The 658-acre Tryon Creek State Natural Area has over 8 miles of trails that wind through woodlands, past streams and along suspension bridges. The natural area is popular among hikers, mountain bikers and horseback riders alike. The RedTail Golf Center is also nearby and has a public 18-hole championship golf course, a junior golf league and private lessons. The community lies around 6 miles west of the Willamette River, lined with parks where visitors can picnic, fish or launch a kayak for a day on the water.

Drive or take the bus to downtown Portland

Metzger is around 8 miles southwest of downtown Portland, and drivers can reach the city in less than 20 minutes via Interstate 5. The area’s bus stops are operated by TriMet, with around 80 routes throughout the Portland metro area. Portland International Airport is roughly 18 miles northeast.
