Lindgren
Suburban Neighborhood in Miami, Florida
Miami/Dade County 33186
The appeal of the area
Aside from the limited number of houses with a water view, those who live in Lindgren like the absence of a monthly homeowners association fee, which means that any renovations that homeowners make come with no restrictions. Ranch-style, colonial, and Mediterranean-style homes start at $600,000, which is average for the Miami area. The more expensive homes are by the lake, valued at around $1 million.Potentially noisy neighbor
Though not nearly as busy as Miami International Airport, there’s still plenty of activity at the Miami Executive Airport, one of the busiest general aviation airports in the state, serving corporate, recreational and governmental agency activities. It’s only a couple of miles away. People in Lindgren will be able to hear the noise from the airport, but it’s generally when you’re outside. Inside is mostly insulated from the flight traffic noise.Excellent schools in a great district
The greater Miami/Fort Lauderdale area has large school districts performing exceptionally well. The Miami/Dade County Public School District gets a B-plus overall grade on Niche and is the third largest in the country. Devon Aire K-8 Center, with a B-plus Niche grade, houses children through eighth grade and is a popular elementary setup within the district. At Arvida Middle, students choose one of three magnet programs: Global Studies or Forensic Science. The school gets an A-minus on Niche. Teenagers can attend Miami Killian Senior High School, with a B-minus Niche grade and a 93% graduation rate.Shopping and dining in one place
The Crossings Shopping Village is convenient to the neighborhood and is located on 132nd Avenue. A Publix supermarket is there for groceries, a CVS, a YouFit gym for indoor workouts, a veterinary clinic and a UPS store. The shopping center also provides a handful of casual eateries, including The Chinese Restaurant of Crossings. Don’t be fooled by the generic name. It’s been a favorite in the area for over 40 years. Chicken Kitchen specializes in grilled, broiled or steamed meat instead of fried.Limited public transportation availability
The Miami-Dade County Metrobus system has stops along their Western Dade route along 137th Avenue, which is not easily walkable from houses in Lindgren. It will take about 20 minutes to get to the southernmost stop on the Metrorail commuter train. That’s the Dadeland South Metrorail Station in the Kendall area.Water and green space
Recreation options for Lindgren residents can be something in the neighborhood, like grabbing fishing gear and heading to the lake just steps from their front door. Arvida Park is another option, within walking distance from the neighborhood and next to Arvida Middle School. Visitors can play at the park’s multi-purpose grass field or stroll on the looping path. The park’s playground provides a place for kids to play. There’s also a picnic area with grills. However, visitors should consider that the park lacks restrooms and water fountains and has very little shade when planning outings. Just 5 miles to the south is the collection of 3,000 animals on over 750 acres at Zoo Miami.
