Venetian Islands
Strolls through Venetian Causeway Park
Residents enjoy morning strolls along the trails of Venetian Causeway Park, located on the neighborhood's west side. Alongside its trails are plenty of grassy spots for a sunset picnic paired with Miami skyline views. Toward the east is Belle Isle Park. This small public green space features a shaded playground to explore and plenty of greenery. Belle Isle is the only Venetian Island that wasn’t wholly man-made, having formerly been a mangrove hammock. The calm streets of Venetian Islands
The Venetian Causeway is a two-lane road that connects the islands to the mainland and the famous Miami Beach, working as the neighborhood’s mainline. Thanks to its established sidewalks, “it is a very pedestrian-friendly neighborhood,” explains Anna Sherrill, a community resident who has also sold homes in the neighborhood as an agent with One Sotheby’s International Realty Inc. “I always see locals biking around.” Most of the community’s condos are located on Belle Isle, ranging from $649,000 to $2.4 million, depending on size and condition. The remaining islands are home to free-standing houses built in the mid to late 20th century, primarily seen in contemporary and Mediterranean styles, like much of Miami Beach. These homes come in a wide price range, from $3.5 million to $40 million, depending on size and amenities.Live shows at The Fillmore
Considering this is a tight-knit community, many residents get together for neighborhood picnics and barbeques. Not far is The Fillmore, a historical art deco theater less than 5 miles east of the neighborhood. The venue hosts regular music concerts, comedy shows and more for those in the surrounding area to enjoy.Sunday brunch and fresh Mediterranean
Early Sunday morning grocery runs can be done less than a mile east at Trader Joe’s before enjoying brunch at Icebox Café, an American-style restaurant “known for its breakfast and lunch,” says Sherrill. Big-name retailers like Macy’s, Nike and many more are situated in Lincoln Road Mall, a short distance from the neighborhood. After a day out and about, an outdoor dining experience with sunset views can be had at Lido Bayside, which serves fresh Mediterranean fare.Getting involved at Miami Beach Senior High School
When it's time for class, young students head to North Beach Elementary School, which earned an A-minus from Niche. Older students will attend Nautilus Middle School before taking classes at Miami Beach Senior High School, both of which have received a B from Niche. The high school offers an array of student organizations to choose from - many of which have seen recognition at a national level.Commuting from Venetian Islands
Many residents use Metrobus public transport when commuting to surrounding areas. That said, nearby necessities aren’t too long of a drive, with trips to Jackson Memorial Hospital being a quick 3-mile drive via I-395 West. Those attending classes at Miami Dade College can reach campus off Northeast 3rd Street in a 1.7-mile commute. Farther away is the Miami International Airport, as travelers must make a 7.2-mile trip to catch a flight.Venetian Causeway traffic
The Venetian Causeway works as a connecting link between the mainland and Miami Beach. It runs under a constant flow most of the time, making traveling through the area a breeze. However, during rush hour, residents can expect to experience a bit of traffic when commuting home for work. More specifically, during significant events held at venues along Miami Beach, the mainline is known to get backed up as attendees travel to and from along the two-lane road.
