On Benshoff Hill, elevated above the Johnstown Metro area, Middle Taylor Township is a small, rural community with older homes along winding country roads. “It’s rural enough to where you can ride your four-wheeler, but you can also quickly get into town,” says Adam Dugan, a Realtor with Coldwell Banker Prestige Realty, who grew up in Middle Taylor and has been selling homes around Johnstown for nearly 20 years. Since the town’s creation in 1908, it has remained a quaint area, with the population today sitting at around 700 people. Homebuyers are attracted to the community for its proximity to shopping, attractions and its elevated location above nearby flood zones.

Ranch-style homes starting in the $150,000s
The town features three- to five-bedroom ranch-style and farmhouse-style homes from the mid-to-late 20th century. “Some newer homes have been built, but you can probably count the number on two hands,” says Dugan. Most of the houses here sit closer together with half-acre to one-acre sized yards, while some homes sit on lots over 10 acres. Many properties have driveways, and some have attached or detached garages. Dugan says the area’s homes often sell before hitting the market as families pass them down to younger generations. Homes stay on the market for an average of 4 days and typically sell for $150,000 to $250,000.
