Walking trails and fishing at Willis Lake
Ellerslie Park is off Highway 85, where visitors can walk along the well-maintained trails or climb up the recently constructed observation tower to take in the view. The park also offers two playgrounds and several picnic areas with covered pavilions. “It’s a popular gathering space for families and folks wanting to get out on the lake. Again—I don’t know a part of Harris County that isn’t desirable,” Cox says. The park surrounds Willis Lake, where visitors can fish or launch paddleboards or kayaks. Several lakes around the area are also great for fishing trips or taking out a paddleboard. Just 7 miles from Ellerslie, Bull Creek Golf Course has a 36-hole green and a driving range.

The neighborhood is just as known for its family-like service as its barbecue. Next to the B&R&R Corner Store, Pop's Place offers southern delicacies like fried catfish, while Hunt Brothers' Pizza is a go-to for slices and wings. In this section of Highway 85, residents can pick up conveniences from Dollar Tree, use the local post office or take their pets to the Vet to Pet Animal Clinic. Midland Community Farmers Market is only 4.5 miles away, offering fresh Georgia produce and artisan goods. The closest grocery store is Publix at Midland Commons, about 8 miles away. In this shopping area, there is also a Tractor Supply Company, a Goodwill and a Walmart. In addition, residents can have a celebratory dinner at Mabella's Italian Steakhouse or grab lunch from Chicken Salad Chick.
