Millsap offers open spaces and highway access
Millsap began in the 1800s as a stagecoach route stop, but, today, the town of less than 400 people sits undisturbed between two modern routes: Interstate 20 and U.S. Route 180. Locals can use either highway to reach larger communities, such as the county seat of Weatherford or Fort Worth. In between those highways, Millsap stretches over acres of pastures and tree groves. Millsap is part of Parker County, known for its cutting horse trainers and riders. Homes here may come with a 1-acre lot and a couple or horse stalls or several acres for horses to roam.
Large lots found from the subdivision to the countryside
Newer homes with spacious properties define Millsap real estate. Whether it’s a farmhouse-inspired custom home or an angular, contemporary design, a house is likely to come with at least an acre of land. Some properties span 10-plus acres of pastures and woodlands and may come with barns. Even in Bulldog Crossing, a subdivision built by Brookson Builders, houses usually sit on 1-acre lots.
More land typically means higher prices
Homes with less than 5 acres start in the upper $300,000s and climb to the low $500,000s. Houses with bigger properties have sold from the upper $700,000s to more than $2 million. If you buy in the Millsap city limits, your tax bill will be higher because both the city and Parker County collect property taxes.
Getting to Fort Worth, the airport and more
U.S. Route 180 runs to the north and Interstate 20 to the south. Both connect Millsap to Fort Worth, about 50 miles away. Here’s how long it takes to reach other destinations in the area:
- Lake Mineral Wells State Park is 7 miles away
- Palo Pinto General Hospital is 10 miles away
- Weatherford is 15 miles away
- Dallas Fort Worth International Airport is 70 miles away
Customizable coursework at Millsap High School
Millsap Independent School District consists of one elementary, one middle and one high school. Millsap High School requires ninth graders to pick an endorsement, which is like choosing a major in college, and build a program of study around that endorsement. For example, someone who selects the business and industry endorsement could take courses in animal science, welding and graphic design.
Retails chains and downtown shops in Mineral Wells
There are just enough businesses in Millsap to gas up at Tommy’s, relax with a latte at Locals Coffee & Drink Shop and make shopping runs to Dollar General. For just about anything else, you have to run to the neighboring city of Mineral Wells, home to Walmart, Brookshire’s and Ace Hardware. Brick storefronts on North Oak Avenue are filled with bars, restaurants and shops, including:
- Flying Tire Bicycle, a shop selling and repair bikes
- Pastafina, a family-owned spot serving pizza and pasta
- The Kraze Boutique, a store carrying a curated selection of clothes, candy and toys
