Millville, known for a rural atmosphere and proximity to employers
Millville, 10 miles from Bloomsburg, the Columbia County seat, is a small town known for its rural atmosphere and proximity to employers. “It's kind of an in-between town, between Williamsport and Bloomsburg,” says Tracy Knoebel, a Realtor with Keller Williams Advantage Realty. Knoebel has been working in the industry for 12 years. “Lots of people in the Millville area are looking to be on the outskirts of the Bloomsburg city center, which is where the university is.” Milleville has a residential center with restaurants and retailers lining its main thoroughfare. The rest is rolling farmland.
State routes and interstates lead to Bloomsburg and Scranton
“They may work in Scranton because Millville is sort of in between Scranton and Bloomsburg,” says Knoebel. “Lots of things in Scranton-the university, Wyoming Seminary Preparatory School and medical centers.” Williamsport also has a hospital and several colleges. Single-family homes on gridded streets and farmland
Homes near State Street have front and backyards occasionally bordered by sidewalks. The gridded streets give way to rolling farmland and homes on larger lots built back from winding roadways. Most houses are single-family and in the Colonial Revival and raised ranch-styles. They range from $145,000 to $280,000. Homes in the Dutch Colonial Revival and Tudor Revival styles tend to be pricier. Little Fishing Creek borders the area, and water levels may rise during inclement weather. Most residences are built far from the creek. Millville is also part of the National Flood Insurance Protection Program, which allows homes not directly within a floodplain to purchase flood insurance.
