A blend of modern and classic styles
The northern half of the area features a cluster of grassy, spaced-out blocks with a handful of detached houses. Most of these were built from the 1970s onward, including Cape Cods, Colonial-style designs and midcentury-style ramblers with large lots. Smaller centennial homes begin in the mid-$200,000s, while larger, more modern homes can go as high as the mid-$500,000s. “What’s crazy about that is you’re a stone’s throw from the heart of downtown, but you look like you’re in a true suburb,” says VISIT Milwaukee Vice President of Communication and Advocacy Claire Koenig. “There are still a number of original owners in them, and those who aren’t the original owners are probably the kids of the original owners. People just don’t want to give up this real estate.” The southern half of the neighborhood features multi-family housing developments such as condos and townhouses. Smaller condos begin in the mid-$100,000s, growing into the mid-$400,000s as they increase in size, and peaking in the low-$600,000s over 2,000 square feet and a view of the city skyline.
