Once a hub for jazz
King Park is a neighborhood steeped in a rich and diverse history. The area is part of what was formerly called Bronzeville, a multicultural square mile that was the epicenter of Milwaukee's jazz scene, hosting performances by famous artists like Duke Ellington and Louis Armstrong. Interstate 43 is the only thing separating King Park from the brewery district. "King Park is a good place for investors and first-time homebuyers," says Koue Xiong, a Keller Williams Realtor who recently sold a home here to a family friend. "There are also programs in place that assist new buyers with their first purchase." Most of the homes in the area were built in the late 60s through the 70s; however, newer homes continue to go up. "The place is growing," Xiong says. "This is a good time to invest before rates and housing prices go up."
Homes are budget-friendly
The neighborhood comprises bungalows, ranches and duplexes with three to four bedrooms, sometimes more, and prices range from $120,000 to $220,000. Streets in the newer sections are wide with tree-lined sidewalks. The lots typically run under a quarter of an acre, suitable for a small garden.
