Valley Forge is a coveted Milwaukee neighborhood for its stately brick and stone houses and proximity to highly rated schools. Residents are also close to professional sporting events and multiple dining options. “It’s an older neighborhood with a lot of beautiful historic homes and mid-century modern homes,” says Realtor Amy Berger, who sells homes in the neighborhood with Keller Williams Realty-Milwaukee Southwest. The oak-shaded yards have enough space for backyard barbecues and passing around the football. “People like that it’s close to the city but far enough away to still have a neighborly feel,” Berger says.

It’s not boundary-based,” Berger says. “There are a lot of charter schools, which still receive public funding but can specialize in certain subjects like math or the arts.” Some of the neighborhood’s children attend Hawley Environmental School, a public magnet school serving grades PK-5. The school has a C-minus Niche rating. Kids can move on to the Woodlands School, which serves grades PK-8. The school has a B-plus Niche rating and is ranked by Niche as the fourth-best charter school in the Milwaukee area. Some teens attend Escuela Verde, a public charter school that serves grades 9-12. It has a B-minus Niche rating and an 85% graduation rate. The students are allowed to determine their own curriculum. Ronald W. Reagan College Preparatory High School is a public magnet option about 10 miles south of Valley Forge. It has an A-plus Niche rating and a 97% graduation rate.
