A gated 55-plus community in Mission Viejo
Casta del Sol, located in Mission Viejo, east of Irvine, is part of one of the largest planned communities in the country. One of the hallmarks of this 55-plus community is meticulously maintained landscaping and recreation areas, including a pool and tennis courts. “I think people like it because it seems like a normal neighborhood, not necessarily 55-plus. It’s well manicured and taken care of, with lots of amenities,” says Realtor Randy Argue who works with Plan A Real Estate and has over five years of experience in the area. “There are lots of rolling hills, views and open space. It doesn't seem congested like other 55-plus communities.” Casta del Sol teems with greenery: hillsides dense with long grasses, evergreens and palm trees next to pathways surrounded by cacti and California poppies.
Casta del Sol's recreation centers and more
Recreation is at the heart of Casta del Sol. The neighborhood’s recreation centers, large Mediterranean buildings, have pickleball courts, a fitness center and an Olympic-size pool. Next to the pool, residents can find plenty of seating: tables with umbrellas and loungers shaded by pergolas. “They have spas, tennis courts, bocce ball courts and a lot more,” Argue says. At Heritage Garden, residents can reserve their own plots where they can plant fruits and vegetables. Oso Creek Golf Course, on the neighborhood’s western edge, is a public 18-hole course with views of the Santa Ana Mountains. “It’s not exclusive to the community, but I'd say it's super accessible and convenient for them,” Argue says.
Oso Creek Golf Course is a great place to get out and enjoy a game of golf.
