A Cause to settle in Warwick
A tranquil residential neighborhood just 15 miles west of downtown Mobile, Warwick is the home of Causey Middle School. This educational institution, named for Alabama native Bernice Effie Jordan Causey, is why families settle in Warwick. “People like the school district in that area,” says Margo Ladner, Realtor at Wellhouse Real Estate West. “It’s also a growing area—everything in Mobile is going west.”

Craftsman-style homes with steep gabled roofs
Steep gabled roof accents are the predominant trait among Warwick homes. “There are a lot of Craftsman-style homes over there and a lot of new builds,” says Ashleigh Watson, Realtor with Keller Williams Realty. The homes are grouped along winding streets and cul-de-sacs, interspersed with paved sidewalks and expanses of grass. Many structures are composed of brick, some with white wood mixed in. Lot sizes measure between one-quarter to one-half acre on average, but buyers who prefer private yards should note that there isn’t as much tree cover here as in some surrounding neighborhoods. According to Ladner, homes in Baltimore tend to cost between $200,000 and $300,000.
Housing styles seen in Warwick range from shed houses to French Country homes.

A different spin on Mobile
"Warwick is convenient to the interstate, so it’s easy to get to New Orleans for the weekend,” Ladner says. “There are some nice beaches nearby, too, like the ones on Dauphin Island.” Though Warwick residents will have to drive for nearly an hour to reach Dauphin Island and more than two hours to get to New Orleans, they’ll have an easier time hopping on Interstate 10 than they would if they lived downtown.
