Mogadore is home to several multinational businesses
The Village of Mogadore's story started in 1807, when a former spy for George Washington, Aerial Bradley, first settled in a crescent-shaped valley. As the years went on, more and more people joined the settlement, and the name Mogadore, rumored to be in honor of a city in Morocco, stuck. Over the years, the village became a home for over a dozen industrial facilities, such as the Rubbermaid corporate office and the ASW Global logistics company headquarters. The village has houses less than a mile north and south of these facilities that are generally under the local price average and a well-rated school system. The area also has its own multi-use park, made to host everything from baseball games to the village's yearly summer festival. With all these aspects combined, residents live just a few feet from job opportunities while also being 8 miles east of downtown Akron.
Mogadore’s homes are more affordable than many of its neighbors
Single-family housing is either north or south of Mogadore's industrial area and costs between $100,000 and $270,000. "Demand is crazy high there. You used to see lots of houses on the market, but now there's only one that's under $200,000 in a given day," says Realtor Brett Walchalk of Russel Real Estate. Local Realtor Susan believes the high demand comes from relatively low prices. "It's mostly ranch houses that are a lot more affordable than other places like Randolph and Aurora, especially since it doesn't have city taxes. The community is tight-knit, so it's rare to see people move out." There are also Colonial Revivals and cottages, though they are less common. Lots in the south are typically a quarter-acre big and around 20 feet between each house. There are fewer houses to the north, but what homes are there get between half and a full acre of land. Mogadore also discusses creating new housing with real estate developers such as Testa. Testa's project, in particular, plans to use the land from the defunct Mogadore Country Club to build a townhouse development called West Village.
Mogadore High School has a statue of a wildcat
Niche rates the Mogadore Local School District as the third-best district in Summit County, providing a list of good schools. Students first attend O.H. Somers Elementary School before moving to Mogadore Junior High School. Niche gives both schools a B. Mogadore High School is the last step in the circuit and gets a C-plus from Niche. In 2019, the school unveiled a new field house after the old one burned down the previous year. The remodel includes a life-sized statue of a wildcat—the school mascot.
Easy access to Interstate 76
The village has three major thoroughfares: Cleveland Avenue, Gilchrist Road and Mogadore Road. All three roadways connect to Interstate 76, which runs through the east side. The Akron METRO bus system's route 23 runs through all three roadways.
Lions Community Park is the local greens
The local multi-use greenspace, Lions Community Park, is 43 acres in the south part of the village. The park has six athletic fields, a gazebo, three tennis courts, a playground and a forested walking trail, all open daily from April to October. While the park is used mainly for outdoor fun and small gatherings, the village also uses it to host the Mogadore Summer Festival in July. Other parks are less than a mile outside of town and include Mogadore Reservoir Park, which has fishing, a boat house, and a campground. Davenport Park is less than a hundred feet away in Ellet and has amenities similar to Lions.
Uncle Tito’s runs out of a historic building
Mogadore doesn't have much shopping, but it does have a few restaurants. Uncle Tito's Mexican Bar and Grill is the second restaurant in a local chain and is the most popular place in the village. Opened in 2021, the restaurant runs out of a historic building that was once the local post office. Inside, the walls have spots of exposed brick, and ducts hang from coffered ceilings. Uncle Tito's neighbors include Sam's Tavern, a bar with pool tables and dart boards, and Roma's Mogadore, a pizzeria and sports bar. Besides the local dollar general, the nearest grocery store is a Save A Lot 3 miles west in Akron's Ellet neighborhood. Locally sourced goods are within 5 miles, whether at the City of Tallmadge Farmers' Market in the north or Ruffner's Hilltop Farm in the southeast. Summit Mall is 16 miles away on the opposite side of Akron, but it's still the closest mall around.
The Mogadore Summer Festival is three days long
Mogadore's biggest event is the Mogadore Summer Festival in July. The festival takes place over three days and includes live music, fireworks and multiple contests. In 2023, the event hosted performances from South Main, a local musical duo, and the My Drunk'n Uncle rock band. On the festival's last day, there was a children's pageant, a pizza-eating contest and a wrestling contest.
Light flooding around the village
The area has a few flood zones. Some streets, such as Gilchrist Road and Curtis Street, deal with 1 to 3 feet of water during and after storms. The land along the Little Cuyahoga River can get more than 3 feet of water, but it doesn't spill over into any properties or roads.
GreatSchools:
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

I have grown up in Mogadore since I was 5 years old and I would not want to live anywhere else. Everything is very close and it is just a very warm and small town. Our schools are very well run and our community is very safe and friendly. Mogadore offers many things like Lions park and the Mogadore Resivor.

I appreciate the balance of farms and urban life which makes it a pretty little suburb to live in. The town is safe, affordable, and a great community.

It's a great place to live if you have children. The middle school and high school are just down the street, and most everything is a comfortable walking distance. The city could do with a few more sidewalks: there are a few streets where you either have to walk in people's yards or walk in the road, neither of which are great options. It's quite a conservative community, but the most you'll get is some Trump signs. At least they aren't flying conservative flags.

Its a great small town, needs more places to eat and visit but not bad. The environment is good, great at sports girls and guys. Good teachers at the school. Outdoor activities aren't bad. Mogadore reservoir is good for fishing
