Additionally, the Monee Reservoir is home to a 2-mile trail that winds under tall trees and past serene ponds, where locals can be found hiking, snowshoeing or cross-country skiing. Bordering Monee Reservoir to the east is Raccoon Grove Nature Preserve, home to 213 acres of protected woodlands, prairies and wetlands. The preserve is a great spot for birdwatching, with over 80 feathered species to look out for among the maples, oaks and hickories. Small parks are also available nearby, such as Sunrise Park, which features a playground.

Crete-Monee Community Unit School District No. 201-U serves the Monee community and is in the top 25% for best athletic school districts in the state, according to Niche.
