Old Cloverdale
Suburban Neighborhood in Montgomery, Alabama
Montgomery County 36106
Petite bungalows and large Colonial Revivals throughout the neighborhood
Most homes here are from the turn of the 20th century, in an eclectic mix of styles, from Tudor to Minimal Traditional to Colonial Revival. They often feature three or four bedrooms and have been thoughtfully renovated to include modern upgrades while maintaining their historic charm. Prices range from the low $200,000s to the mid $500,000s, with high-priced homes often featuring more square footage and bigger lawns. Most homes, though, sit close together on narrow lots. Tall, mature trees dot sidewalk-lined streets, forming a canopy of shade on sunny days, and front yards are often landscaped with shrubs, flowers, and smaller trees. Those looking for a condo or townhouse might score one from Old Cloverdale’s limited stock. Nearly all are situated on the neighborhood’s west side, feature one or two bedrooms and are priced in the low $100,000s to the mid $200,000s.Locally owned restaurants and easy grocery shopping
Old Cloverdale has locally owned restaurants that draw foodies from all over the city. Locals find upscale dining and an extensive wine list on the menu at Vintage Year. Filet & Vine is a gourmet bodega offering high-end deli sandwiches, a soup and salad bar and an extensive beer selection. Leroy is a quirky local bar where patrons enjoy well-made cocktails on the patio. For weekend errands, residents head to Country Club Shopping Center off Carter Hill Road to pick up groceries at Winn-Dixie, find bargains at Dollar Tree, and visit services like nail and hair salons. There are also hospitals nearby; Jackson Hospital is under 2 miles away, and Baptist Medical Center South is about 3 miles away.Locals flock to Cloverdale Park for fresh air and green space
At the heart of the neighborhood is Cloverdale Park, where residents walk along the long trail under the shade of several oak trees. At the park's center is a live oak estimated to be 200 years old. Residents organize a popular spring concert series every year in the park that draws many attendees from across the city. “There are kids playing, people bring their dogs, older people come out. There’s a new band every week, a good mix of music. It’s a lot of fun,” says Roll. Mary Ann Neeley Park is another popular, tree-shaded green space with fountains and benches. Golf enthusiasts may consider joining the privately-owned Montgomery Country Club, which offers golf all year, plus a pool and tennis courts.Montgomery County Schools serves area students
