A charming residential community
Valley Stream is a sought-after residential Moorestown community about 15 miles from Philadelphia's Center City. Local Quaker communities built the first Friends Meeting House around 1700 and the area's first two schools in 1785. Today, the town boasts dozens of green spaces, highly rated schools, including the Moorestown Friends School, and historic homes in sought-after neighborhoods like Valley Stream. "Proximity to Philadelphia is a large draw to the area," says Melissa Young, a real estate salesperson with Compass New Jersey, LLC., who has nearly 30 years of experience in the industry. "But we also offer a quaint town with a tight-knit community amongst the South Jersey suburbs. You'll run into everyone you know just strolling down Main Street." One of Valley Stream's most desirable traits is its proximity to Moorestown's main strip, offering residents a small-town, walkable community that blends historic charm with suburban convenience.

19th- and 20th-century homes
Quiet tree-lined streets give way to an eclectic mix of 19th- and 20th-century architecture. Single-family homes dominate the market, while a small strip of historic duplexes line South Church Street. Sidewalks wind past Craftsman-style bungalows, Cape Cods, Dutch Colonials and American Foursquares. These properties often sit close together and feature detached garages. Other roads are lined with grandiose Queen Annes and Colonial Revivals scattered in between bi-levels, split-levels and ranch-style homes. Many properties boast newly renovated facades with modern finishes, updated interiors and roomy backyards for playsets, patios and in-ground pools. "With more people working from home, open floor plans have decreased in popularity," Young says. "People want separate rooms with private offices," a common trend amongst Moorestown's older homes. Sales prices can range from the mid-$400,000s to the upper-$700,000s, while some properties reach the $1 million mark.
