On the outskirts of Denver, Red Rocks Ranch is situated between Rooney Valley and Bear Creek Lake Park, providing its residents with access to nature and recreation while remaining close to the metropolitan area.

Many homes are still under construction in this area and fall into the $700,000 range, with others going for over $1 million. A number of three-story, modern-design homes within the neighborhood sit alongside more traditional, multi-level craftsman styles. Some homes are already finished, others are under construction and some are still in the planning phase, with all of the homes expected to be completed by late 2023 or early 2024.

Students attend Hutchinson Elementary School, Dunstan Middle School and Green Mountain High School, all of which score a B or better on Niche and have student-to-teacher ratios of 20-to-one or less. Green Mountain High also boasts a large percentage of participation in athletics by the student body.

For nature lovers, Bear Creek Lake Park spans the southern border of Red Rocks Ranch and beyond, stretching for more than 2,600 acres. “We have a lot of naturalist programs and events, like guided hikes, that we do throughout the year,” says park ranger Maddie Parsnick. The adventurous can sleep under the stars or take to the trails for hiking or biking. Out on Bear Creek Lake, cast a line, go boating or windsurf.

“We’ve experienced a ton more use as people figure out about all the great public areas that are around Colorado,” Parsnick says. “It’s a place a lot of people like to go to get away without having to drive all the way up in the mountains.” The park is open year-round and offers a swim beach and archery range, along with ice fishing and skiing in the winter and its still-accessible trails.

The best place to catch a show is at the iconic Red Rocks Park and Ampitheatre, just across the highway to the west. With seating built into the stone formations, this celebrated venue has showcased famous performances for more than 75 years, including Jimi Hendrix, the Beatles and Pearl Jam. And, as a bonus, attendees can take in the Denver skyline from the venue.

The neighborhood is also close to Tamarisk Open Space to the east, which features a treehouse-themed playground, unpaved trails and a city-maintained, 10-acre recreational area. To the west sits Bandimere Speedway, also known as Thunder Mountain. Plans are in place to relocate the track elsewhere at the end of 2023 after it hosted NHRA events for decades.

Denver is close by, allowing access to the city. Sports fans are less than half an hour away from all four of the city’s primary teams – the Denver Nuggets, Colorado Rockies, Denver Broncos and Colorado Avalanche – and their home arenas.

Red Rocks Ranch provides an up-and-coming place to live between the throes of nature at Bear Creek Lake Park and the accessibility of Denver’s cityscape.
