As one of the many well-established Cumberland County boroughs near Carlile, Mount Holly Springs is a notoriously rural area with lots of lakes and trails that provide plenty of outdoor recreation. Residents can enjoy the area's natural beauty without living too far from retail amenities. “It’s a good place to be, especially if you love that small-town feel. You end up getting to personally know a lot of people,” says Ysmaine Dominiciano, a Realtor with EXP Realty who has 8 years of experience and lives in the area.

Victorians and modest ranches
Most properties in Mount Holly Springs are conveniently priced with a good amount of space. Brightly colored townhouses with three bedrooms and 1,500 to 2,000 square feet can be found for anywhere between $140,000 to $210,000. Since a lot of the homes are older, it’s easy to find Victorian-styled houses with large front porches on the market too. For those who want something smaller, ranch-style homes go for $65,000 to $135,000. Most of these properties are located close to South Baltimore Avenue since it cuts through the neighborhood.

Miles of wooded trails
Mount Holly Springs is perfectly located for its residents to enjoy outdoor recreational activities. “The neighborhood as a whole is a very wooded area surrounded by nature,” Dominiciano says. Mount Holly Marsh Preserve is a little outside the neighborhood but has roughly 900 acres of forestry and marshes for people to explore. Visitors can admire the area's beauty along six different hiking trails, go hunting or fish along Mountain Creek. For something more traditional, Tichy Park is an open green space on East Street with a playground for little ones to climb on. Residents can also enjoy the park amenities of Mount Holly Park and Trine Park, with their basketball courts and enclosed dog parks.

Small-town eateries and and old fashioned candy store
When residents of Mount Holly Springs want to go shopping, there are plenty of options along South Baltimore Avenue – the town’s main road. They can browse the many clothing stores like GreenLife thrift store, or treat themselves to some freeze-dried sweets at Deibler Family Adventures candy store. There’s also a Dollar General for daily essentials. When residents are hungry, there are a few local joints where they can grab a bite to eat. Cassells Grille is a typical bar scene with burgers, though their prime rib is also a favorite. For something more casual, Italian Taxi serves pasta dishes, subs and pizza slices. Residents often travel outside the neighborhood to explore options in nearby towns – a trip to Boiling Springs can take them to Karns Foods for groceries. “Carlile is the next bigger city nearby when people need a franchise like Walmart,” Dominiciano says.

A highly rated public high school
Families living in Mount Holly Springs have a few schools they can send their children to for their education. Mount Holly Springs Elementary School may have a C-plus grade on Niche, but it’s in the neighborhood and has multiple reading initiatives. Yellow Breeches Middle School has a B Niche grade and maintains above-average test scores. From there, students can attend Boiling Springs High School. Rated No. 5 in Best Public High Schools in Cumberland County by Niche, the school boasts a B grade and has high athletic participation among its students.

Drive to work or walk to local shops
Since Mount Holly Springs is a mostly rural area, residents depend on their own vehicles to get around. However, everything along South Baltimore Avenue is close to each other. “It can be considered walkable since the town is so small,” Dominiciano says. “If you live close to Main Street, you may be able to walk to the shops and restaurants. Otherwise, though, people drive.” Despite the train tracks crisscrossing throughout the neighborhood, there is no form of public transportation close by.
