Mount Pleasant is a rural region north of Bloomsburg
Just north of Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania, the rural region of Mount Pleasant is entirely residential, with residents typically living on multiple acres of rolling hills near farm markets and highly rated schools. “It’s rural and very scenic,” says Realtor Angela Young with Century 21 Covered Bridges Realty, Inc. “Mostly, you’re going to find rolling hills. You have easy access to Interstate 80, but you’re not going to find a lot of development. You’re going to find homes that are on acreage for the most part there.”
Acreage properties on rural country roads
Mount Pleasant is made up entirely of single-family homes, with about 90% of residents owning their properties. Most properties are at least an acre, and about half of properties are three acres or more. “There are maybe some half-acre lots around, but for the most part, most of the houses are going to be on one-acre or larger parcels,” Young says. “There’s no town in Mount Pleasant, so you’re not going to find sidewalks or curbs. These are rural country roads.” Ranch-style and farmhouse architecture are predominant in Mount Pleasant, and the market moves quickly, with homes selling after an average of 21 days, much less than the national average of 50 days. Recent sales prices in Mount Pleasant range from $210,000 to $750,000.
The highly rated Central Columbia School District
Students in Mount Pleasant can attend schools in Central Columbia School District, which gets an overall A grade from Niche and ranks on the site’s list of top 50 school districts in Pennsylvania. “All the students are bussed to school because there’s nothing that’s within walking distance,” Young says. They can start at the A-minus-rated Central Columbia Elementary School before continuing to the A-rated Central Columbia Middle School and the A-minus-rated Central Columbia High School. High school students can choose between career and technical education programs such as accounting, rehabilitation aide and agricultural mechanization.
