A residential neighborhood near Downtown Lancaster
Oyster Point epitomizes what one would consider the typical American suburb with a slight twist. Located just 6 miles from Lancaster, Pennsylvania, quiet residential streets feature a mix of homes, big box stores are a short drive away, and a highly rated school district attracts young families. “Oyster Point’s appeal is a combination of many things,” says Tyler Stoltz, a local Realtor with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Homesale Realty, who has over seven years of experience in the industry. “It’s affordability and accessibility to Downtown Lancaster and nearby parks and trails is what makes it special.” Situated in the heart of Amish country, Oyster Point is where rustic charm and modern amenities converge, attracting those looking for the comforts of suburbia on the cusp of farmland.
Roadside farmstands and chain stores
Roadside farmstands range from Amish-owned markets that have been around for decades to Schopf Brothers Farm, which sells everything from fresh produce and florals to pumpkins and Christmas trees. “Mom-and-pop shops are big around here,” Stoltz says. “Residents often opt to shop locally. There’s an Amish-owned roadside stand close to my house, and I go there a lot for farm fresh eggs, meats and homemade cookies.” Just 6 miles away is the Lancaster Central Market, the country’s oldest continuously running farmers market. Chain grocers like Giant and Weis Markets are also close by, along with retailers like BJ’s Wholesale Club and Target. Stoltz notes that Oyster Point has a few restaurants and bars, but most people head downtown for a night out. “LUCA is a popular pizzeria, and 401 Prime is an upscale steakhouse that everyone knows about,” Stoltz says. Closer to home, Loxley’s Restaurant and Patio Bar offers a cozy ambiance in a rustic, mountain-style chateau. Centerville Diner is the go-to spot for brunch dates, and Grand Central Bagel serves up classic bacon, egg and cheese sandwiches.
