A residential and industrial neighborhood southeast of downtown Muncie
Southeast of downtown Muncie, Industry is a residential and industrial neighborhood with housing that dates back to the 1800's. Many residents move here to be close to work, as the community is also home to several technical and vocational employers, including a variety of factories, auto shops and steel fabricators. Housing options here cost less than the average for Muncie, but many homes are also in need of significant repairs, in part due to their age. Locals like that they're close to Heekin Park, one of the city's largest green spaces, and their proximity to downtown Muncie, the city's hub for art and culture. On the west end of the neighborhood, the Delaware County Family Resource Center provides support like food assistance, recovery groups and family events to foster a greater sense of community throughout the neighborhood.
