Morningside has affordable homes near Muncie’s shopping and dining corridor
Morningside is a small neighborhood on Muncie's north side. "The north end of Muncie is where a lot of the commerce has located, so that's attractive to a lot of people moving into town," says Rich Lee, associate Realtor with Re/Max Real Estate. Although nearby McGalliard Road is one of the city's busiest roadways, the neighborhood streets of Morningside are quiet and rarely traveled by nonresidents. Homes at an affordable price point are another major draw.

McGalliard Road is the epicenter of shopping and dining in Muncie. Fast-food restaurants and casual sit-down franchises line the busy thoroughfare, which also features grocery stores like Aldi, Pay Less and Fresh Thyme Market. The Muncie Mall is not as robust as it once was, but the shopping center still has about 20 stores. Adjacent to the mall, Muncie Plaza has Old Navy, Kohl's and T.J. Maxx. Pizza enthusiasts are in good hands with Greek's Pizzeria and Pizza King on McGalliard. Cheers, a longstanding bar and restaurant, is a go-to for karaoke three nights a week. Puerto Vallarta began on Broadway Avenue and has expanded to three locations in the city. Locals and Ball State University students meet over margaritas at the Mexican staple. Downtown Muncie, 4 miles away, has slowly grown its offerings and is now a hub for local eats and drinks. "You have a good variety, and that's what people are looking for," Lee says. "It's not the same old, same old. You have a choice."
