Mundy Township offers a rural lifestyle that isn't isolated
Mundy Township is a mixed rural and suburban community. A few tree-filled subdivisions with sidewalk-lined streets are scattered throughout, surrounded by houses on multi-acre lots and quiet, one-lane highways. But this Genesee County township is hardly isolated. It’s close to Bishop International Airport, about 10 miles from Flint, and Interstate 75 runs through the northeast corner, giving residents easy access to nearby cities, including Detroit, about 65 miles away.
Ranch-style and New Traditional homes often sit on multiple acres
Houses are typically ranch-style, New Traditional or bungalows, built between 1950 and 1990, and feature three or four bedrooms. Prices often range from $130,000 to $530,000. Higher-priced homes are often built after 2000, have recent renovations or sit on multi-acre lots. Two and three-bedroom condos and townhouses are also available throughout the township, priced between $110,000 and $310,000.
Grand Blanc Community Schools serves local kids
The Grand Blanc Community Schools district serves the township. Niche rates it an A-minus and the No. 1 district in the Flint area. Kids attend Reid Elementary, which has a B rating on Niche; Grand Blanc West Middle, which also has a B; and Grand Blanc High, which has an A-minus.
Residents stay active on sports leagues and at the golf course
Residents can join indoor soccer, softball and kickball leagues at Genesee Fieldhouse. The Mundy Sportsplex is another spot for adult and youth soccer leagues. The Fox Den Farm is on the town’s southwest side and offers horseback riding programs and stalls for boarding. Fenton Farms Golf Club is just outside of town and offers a public, 18-hole course and leagues to join.
Highway 23 offers shopping and dining
Meijer, Home Depot and Costco are near U.S. Highway 23, which runs through town. A mix of chain and local restaurants is also near Highway 23, like Blondie’s Food & Spirits, a family-owned spot serving American comfort dishes. Redwood Steakhouse and Brewery is another local restaurant that’s popular for its craft beer and casual-yet-upscale atmosphere. After dinner, residents head to the US 23 Drive-In Theatre, which has been serving the town since 1952 and shows family-friendly movies. The closest hospitals are Henry Ford Genesys, about 7 miles away, and McLaren Flint, about 10 miles away.
Annual events often feature classic cars
The Mundy Township Firefighters Annual Car Show is one of the bigger summer events and features a display of classic cars, a parade, bounce houses and a bonfire at dusk. The community has another classic car show in the fall, the Mundy Township Senior and Enrichment Center Car Show/Trunk-or-Treat, which has a car decorating contest, kids’ costume contest, live music and trick-or-treating.
I-75 and Bishop International Airport keep residents moving
U.S. Highway 23 and Interstate 75 connect residents to the rest of the state. Bishop International Airport is on the town’s north side.
Mundy Township's environmental concerns
Winters can be cold, with temperatures between the teens and high 30s and summer temperatures usually hover in the low 80s. Tornadoes are possible during severe storms, but they aren’t common.
