Murrieta Highlands
Established homes walkable to an elementary school
The neighborhood is walkable, with sidewalks and crosswalks at busy intersections, providing safe routes for families walking to Oak Meadows Elementary School. Mediterranean-style bungalows, ranch-style houses, and two-story homes are primarily under 3,000 square feet. Construction spans from the early 2000s to the mid-2010s, with many homes renovated. Single-family homes range from $660,000 to $785,000 and higher. Willow Haven is a gated section of the community with condos priced between $435,000 and $530,000.Mountain biking, hikes and Santa Rosa Plateau Ecological Preserve
Mapleton Park spans 9 acres, offering sports fields, a small playground and a looped walking trail. South of the neighborhood is Keller Trail, nearly 6 miles of mountainous terrain popular for hiking and dirt biking. Locals enjoy the trail's elevated views, especially during SoCal's super bloom in spring, when poppies and desert lilies blossom in vibrant shades of orange and purple. About 11 miles away is the Santa Rosa Plateau Ecological Preserve. "It's great to have this just a few miles away. The views are gorgeous, and people hike or horseback ride there," says Shane Bernal, an associate broker with Exp Realty of California with over two decades of experience selling homes.STEM pathways offered at Liberty High
Menifee Union School District has a B-minus rating on Niche and enrolls over 11,000 students. Oak Meadows Elementary School has a B grade, and Bell Mountain Middle School has a B-plus grade. Ninth through 12th graders fall within the Perris Union High School District, home to Liberty High, which has a B grade. The high school is one of the only in the district to offer four STEM pathways, including the School of Business and Entrepreneurship and the School of Health Sciences and Medical Technology.Shopping downtown and nearby local restaurants and bars
The neighborhood is 10 miles from Old Town Murrieta, which, though just one city block, is well-loved by locals for its family-owned restaurants. For groceries, Albertsons in Heritage Marketplace is a mile away and also features a few restaurants. Exquisite Tapas is family-owned on Scott Road, offering an intimate lounge and an extensive menu of small plates. Nearby, Tavern Grille is a local favorite, serving classic American fare with a central bar where guests can catch a sports game. Costco, Target and Home Depot are nearby, and Temecula has more shopping 12 miles away.Local events and Movies in the Park
Downtown Murrieta hosts various events, including farmers' markets, craft fairs and Movies in the Park during the summer. "The city also has a big Memorial Day event. The field is about the size of a football field but square and gets filled with many flags across the field," Tracy Bernal says.Commuting to Orange County and San Diego
Interstates 215 and 15, known locally as the 215 and the 15 freeways, are the main thoroughfares for getting around. Many residents commute to Orange County or San Diego, under 85 miles away, with commutes that take up to 2 hours. "On the freeway, it's only about 15 to 20 minutes to the San Diego County line. Most people are going beyond that, heading to downtown San Diego. Escondido is probably 50 minutes from here," Shane Bernal says. John Wayne Airport is a 60-mile drive.
