A-plus school chain
Rated the second-best school district in Illinois out of over 400, Naperville Community Unit School Number 203 is rated an A-plus, as are the schools that are part of the public education chain in the neighborhood. Highlands Elementary School has a 14-to-1 student-teacher ratio and is rated the second-best elementary school in the state. Kennedy Junior High School is in Lisle and is part of the Naperville School District. The school has nearly 1,000 students in grades six through eight and has what is called a Learning Commons. As some students call It, the LC appears as a casual library, but there are also read-aloud sessions and book clubs. Naperville North High School has nearly 2,700 students and a 99% graduation rate. Ann Reid Early Childhood Center is also part of the public school system and takes children as young as three. The Gardner School of Naperville North is a private preschool that accommodates kids from infants to kindergarten.East of Naper Boulevard
The subdivision east of Naper Boulevard is Green Trails in Lisle. “It’s an appropriate name for this subdivision because it’s full of trails that connect parks and neighborhood streets,” Flavin says. “I’ve seen it used by walkers, joggers and bikers.” The parks that the trails connect to include Valley Forge, New Albany, Hampshire Parks, and the 13-acre Surrey Ridge Sports Complex, primarily a baseball facility. Houses in this area were built in the 1970s, and some have been renovated within the past five years. The price range is from $400,000 to $650,000 with tri-level, Colonial Revival and ranch-style.Four-year school
The neighborhood's northeast corner is the Catholic four-year school with over 40 undergraduate majors and nearly 20 graduate degrees at Benedictine University. The school has over 3,000 students and 16 Division III athletic programs. The campus includes a renovated quad area, including walkways surrounded by landscaped grass. While most of the student body is from the Chicago area or the state of Illinois, 50 states and more than 15 countries are represented among the students' hometowns.Additional outdoor recreation
There’s fishing in the pond at Abbeywood Park, south of the Benedictine University campus. Paved walking trails will ensure daily steps are achieved. A playground under a canopy of trees will help prevent metal equipment from getting too hot during the summer. There are also basketball, tennis and pickleball courts. Huntington Estates Bath and Tennis Club have different rates for accessing the outdoor pool depending on whether customers are dues-paying members of the Huntington Estates Homeowners Association. Two shopping centers
A couple of strip malls are across the street from each other, providing grocery store options and other retail opportunities. Jewel-Osco is part of the Market Meadows Shopping Center and Freedom Brothers Pizzeria & Alehouse, with trivia every Tuesday night from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday nights is Rock ‘n’ Roll Bingo. Listen for songs to join up with the names on the bingo sheet. Venture across the street to shop at Mariano’s for everyday household items or enjoy traditional Chinese food at House of Emperor.West of Naper Boulevard
The Huntington Hill subdivision is one of the areas west of Naper Boulevard, with homes built in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Most are two-story, between 2,000 and 3,500 square feet, with four bedrooms and a two-car garage. The price range is between $500,000 to $750,000. The primary house design here is Colonial Revival. Olesen Estates has the most recent houses, at least 3,000 square feet, with four to five bedrooms. The price tag can range from $600,000 to $1 million. The houses on the higher end of the price range were built in the 1990s, while older homes are from the 1970s. The houses in Huntington Estates are mainly south of Green Trails Drive and are priced between $650,000 to $900,000 with most of the time frame from the late 1970s to the mid-1980s and are Colonial Revival, Georgian and Tudor Revival. Residents here pay a $475-dollar yearly homeowners association assessment.Car-dependent area
The closest bus stop for public transportation are the stops along Ogden Avenue, which is a couple of miles away by car and will take about 40 minutes if you walk. A vehicle is also needed to get to either the Lisle or the Naperville Metra station, the commuter rail system that heads into downtown Chicago. Both stations are a couple of miles away, east or west.
