Relaxation and competition in a gated community
Florida evokes images of rolling green golf courses and driving ranges, but for the residents of Longshore Lake, tennis is the name of the game. “What makes Longshore Lake special is that it’s one of the only communities that focuses primarily on tennis,” says Tyler Manring, local broker associate at Compass Florida Naples. Tennis competitions are frequent across the community’s nine courts, and visitors travel from surrounding areas to participate in league play. While residents may oppose each other on the courts, they often come together for community events and social gatherings. The gated community offers tranquil coastal living and a 100-acre lake that winds throughout the neighborhood. Homeowners will also find access to highly rated public schools in the Collier County Public School District. The area is prone to hurricanes, but Longshore Lake is protected from stronger storms due to its location further inland.

Those looking to test their sea legs can spend a day on the water in a kayak or pontoon boat. Fishing is permitted but limited to catch and release. Other amenities within Longshore Lake include a heated pool and a fitness center. Tennis may be the dominant activity, but golfers are close to numerous public and private courses, including the Village Golf Course at Qual Creek to the East. And many residents enjoy spending a day on the sandy beaches of Delnor-Wiggins Pass State Park, just 7 miles away.

Tennis is the name of the game
“This is truly a tennis-centric community,” Manring says. Tennis takes center stage, and the nine professionally maintained Har-Tru courts host a wide range of competitions and tournaments. “There’s really a high-quality level of skill, and many residents compete in league play.” The community has USPTA-certified professionals to provide lessons and facilitate balanced matches among players. Residents may oppose each other on the court, but they are brought together off the court through numerous tennis events such as social mixers and dinners.

Variety of housing styles
A journey through Longshore Lake’s 24-hour serviced gate will reveal a private community that breaks free from the uniform look that many others fall into. “There’s different architecture across the community as it’s definitely not a cookie-cutter style,” Manring says. “Houses were built over a 15–20-year period using different builders.” Lush lawns and well-manicured lawns sit in front of Spanish Revivals with stucco exteriors and tiled roofs. Although the architectural style may vary, most houses have Florida sunrooms and swimming pools in the backyard. Three-bedroom ranch-style houses begin pricing at $750,000, while larger waterfront builds with a boat dock can top $1.5 million.
