Nash is a country community near Texarkana with highly rated schools
In Nash, a community of nearly 4,000 people close to the Texas-Arkansas border, people don’t think of themselves as city folk. In fact, many residents came there to escape the commotion of Texarkana, which sits just east. “It’s for people who want convenience and a country vibe,” says Holly Craigen, a Realtor with Fathom Realty LLC and a Nash resident. “You go one direction to get to one side [of the larger region], and you go the other direction to get to the other side.” Craigen says the community does not have the noise of Texarkana despite being a few miles from the city limits. The location makes it easy for residents to spend a day in Downtown Texarkana, but Nash has a few restaurants and is zoned for highly rated schools.
Ranch-style and New Traditional homes are surrounded by woods
The community’s traditional ranch-style homes often range from $130,000 to $250,000, and its New Traditional houses can run from $220,000 to $380,000. More than half of Nash residents are renters. The rural community usually has narrow asphalt streets surrounded by woods, though New Boston Road is a four-lane highway. While some neighborhoods have a grid-like pattern, most roads snake through the community. Yards are largely grass and can feature small to medium trees and small shrubs near the house. “It’s not all subdivisions,” Craigen says. “When you’re outside the city limits, you have more freedom.”
Louisiana spices, Japanese flavors and classic American eats
Nash has a mix of local and chain restaurants, many along Interstate 30. The Pully Bone cooks homestyle meals and desserts, and Texas Chuck Wagon, an American eatery, has indoor seating and a drive-through for pick-up orders. Walk-On's Sports Bistreaux, a regional chain, serves Southern favorites in a sports bar setting. Guests sit around the grill at Osaka Japanese Steakhouse. The community has Walmart and Dollar General locations and retail stores like Lowe’s Home Improvement and Academy Sports + Outdoors. The area is a few miles from Texarkana Pavilion, which has clothing stores like Old Navy and T.J. Maxx.
Enroll in The Ross Perot STEM Academy or use a school choice program
Students are served by the Texarkana Independent School District. They can attend Nash Elementary, which holds a B Niche grade. Texas Middle School also earns a B score. Texas High School offers The Ross Perot STEM Academy, a college-focused curriculum that spotlights problem-solving and project-based learning. It receives an A rating.
Starting in 2026, Texas’ school choice voucher program will award eligible families around $10,000 toward private school tuition and other expenses. The nearest private school is Texarkana’s Trinity Christian School, around 8 miles away, which gets a B-plus grade.
Ball fields, playgrounds, and fishing and boating on Bringle Lake
There are few green spaces within Nash’s boundaries, but several are nearby. Texarkana’s Spring Lake Park is the largest in the region and offers picnic areas, ball fields, a disc golf course, a splash pad, a dog park and fishing areas. Wake Village’s King Park has baseball and softball diamonds, jungle gyms and swing sets. Less than 10 miles north is Bringle Lake Park West, which features a boat ramp and volleyball courts. It connects via a boardwalk with Bringle Lake Park East, which has a fishing pier, bike trail and picnic areas. The two parks sit next to Texarkana Golf Ranch, which takes public tee times. Its 18-hole course has elevation changes of up to 50 feet. The area has several churches, most south of U.S. Route 82.
Access to two interstates and Downtown Texarkana
Interstates 30 and 369 are the city’s northern and eastern edges, and U.S. Route 82 cuts through its center. A railroad runs parallel to Route 82 and Front Street. The community is close to 5 miles from Texarkana Emergency Center & Hospital and Downtown Texarkana, which straddles the Texas-Arkansas line. Texarkana Regional Airport, on the Arkansas side, is around 12 miles away. Craigen says weather events like tornadoes and flooding are not a significant concern for the area.
