Nashotah's suburban character in the Lake Country

The village of Nashotah stands out among the waterfront hideaways of Lake Country with its collection of comfortable subdivisions. “It’s definitely more suburban,” says Jennifer Stoehr, a Realtor with the JJ Hausmann Team of Compass. Nashota’s neighborhoods differ from the luxury lakeside estates that are common throughout the region. Alongside its suburban nature and strong schools, the community has access to recreation on nearby lakes and charming downtown districts.

Lake recreation throughout the region, plus village parks

Centrally located in the Lake Country, Nashotah has access to plenty of water recreation. The community borders a portion of Nagawicka Lake, where residents can head out on the water or go fishing. A public boat launch is located on the opposite side of the lake, as is the Nagawicka Lake Yacht Club, which puts on sailing events over the summer. Nashotah Park has a pair of smaller lakes and 6 miles of trails. Visitors use the trails for running over the summer and cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in the winter. Within the village, Dickten Park offers a playground, sports fields and a path for walking and jogging.

Restaurants in the community and in downtown Delafield

Nashotah is home to a handful of restaurants along Lakeland Drive. The Picnic Basket opened in 1987 and serves pizza and sandwiches, including a weekly special themed to one of the 50 U.S. states. Boozhag’s Clubhouse is a neighborhood bar with elevated pub fare, plus a seafood menu on Fridays. However, the longest-standing restaurant in the area is the Red Circle Inn, which has operated in one form or another since 1848. The landmark serves American cuisine in a warm, wood-paneled interior and is a favorite for banquets or special occasions. More dining options sit along Main Street in downtown Delafield, 2 miles south. “There are candy shops, ice cream shops, coffee shops — it’s just really picturesque,” Stoehr says. “You can walk around the corner and see another nice restaurant you can go to for dinner. And all of these places have outside seating to enjoy the beautiful downtown area.” Pick ’n Save is the closest grocery store, also 2 miles away.
