Dickerson Road

Older ranch houses and newer townhomes
Away from the highways that surround the area, red brick ranch and raised ranch homes, many with attached garages, line the streets. Some properties in the area are set back from roads on lofty-sized lots with more acreage and bright green lawns. Colonial-style homes with columns sit on hilly terrain, giving these homeowners a view of the sunrise. These ranch and colonial houses range anywhere from 1,000 to 3,000 square feet in size and $300,000 to upwards of $1.5 million in price. “There are many new construction developments in the area. Skyridge is west of Dickerson Pike, and the Yarra is a townhouse complex on the east side of 65,” says Billingham. These townhomes and Farmhouse Revivals typically cost between $300,000 to $600,000. Also, on the west side of town is the Village Hills RV & Mobile Home community.Music literacy at local elementary
The Metro Nashville Public School District serves students living in the area. Chadwell Elementary School, graded a C-minus from Niche, has partnered with several organizations to offer students an opportunity to learn music literacy through the Our Music Makes Us program. Isaac Litton Middle School—which receives a C Niche grade—or Madison Middle School—which receives a C-minus—are nearby options for middle school learners. Older students can benefit from a 16-1 student-teacher ratio at Maplewood High School or a 17-1 student-teacher ratio at Hunters Lane High School, both graded a C-minus by Niche.
Interstate 65 and Dickerson Pike
Interstate 65 runs along the eastern side of town, leading to more entertainment, shopping and dining options in downtown Nashville—just 9 miles south. On the west side, Dickerson Pike turns into U.S. Route 41, where there are several WeGo Transit bus stops.Groceries and eateries on Gallatin Pike
There are plenty of grocery shopping and dining options about 2 miles east of the neighborhood. Where Old Hickory Boulevard intersects with Gallatin Pike, locals grab groceries at Aldi, Kroger or Save A Lot. Residents can also head down Gallatin Pike for a New York slice at Pinky Ring Pizza, Mexican favorites at Tacos y Mariscos Lindo México, or appreciate a beer and live music at Dee’s Country Cocktail Lounge. A mile to the west of town on Dickerson Pike, locals gather for breakfast, lunch or dinner at Mallard’s Family Restaurant.Studio nights or haunted frights
Dickerson Road embraces the city’s long history of music by hosting the longest-running recording studio, Hilltop Recording Studio, which was founded in 1963. On the east side, the Madison Town Center has a variety of shops and eateries, as well as a billiards club and axe-throwing bar. This area is also home to Nashville Nightmare, a popular haunted house attraction with a cocktail bar and escape games that’s not just open during Halloween.Green space abound at Cedar Hill
On the north side of town, Cedar Hill Park offers hiking and biking trails around a small lake and ample green space, which includes a disc golf course. Families can also enjoy the park’s seven sheltered picnic areas, colorful playground and softball facility.
