The area features rolling hills and natural, wooded areas west of Monmouth Avenue. Many of the buildings in the Navesink area are near the street, compared to the rest of Middletown Township, where the buildings are on large lots that are not usually visible from the road. The Navesink River provides residents with a nearby area to swim, row, fish, sail, crabbing, and do other recreational activities on the water. Golf enthusiasts have the Navesink Country Club close by, as well as a private golf course and country club on the banks of the Navesink River.
