A Minneapolis suburb close to nature

In New Hope, Northwood West is made up of neat, quiet residential streets, hemmed in by busy thoroughfares – Highway 169 to the east and 42nd Avenue to the north. Located about 10 miles northwest of Minneapolis, New Hope is a relatively affordable suburb that draws people in with its parks and natural areas. “This neighborhood is a first-ring suburb, providing close access to the urban amenities of downtown Minneapolis while also enjoying a home close to nature areas,” says Joe Carmack, a local Realtor with Carmack Real Estate Group.

Northwood West offers more affordable suburban housing

The quiet streets are all relatively short, inhibited by Northwood Lake which sits at the center of the neighborhood, and large mature trees line the streets providing share. There are a variety of home designs in the neighborhood, including ramblers, split-levels, Colonial Revivals and townhouses. Most of the single-family homes have landscaped front yards and back yards big enough for a patio and a playground. The market is slow, with townhouses for sale more often than single-family homes. The median price for a townhouse is $190,000 and the median for a single-family home is $350,000, which is below the national median. “The affordable price tag of homes for sale and the low turnover of residents can make it difficult to find a home to purchase in these neighborhoods,” Carmack said.
