New London Township has a long history, being over 300 years old. Several signers of the Declaration of Independence were educated here, and one, Thomas McKean, was born on a local farm. Over time, the area has remained rural, with winding country roads that open to cornfields. Private lands are used for homesteading, hunting and fishing, and neighbors carry old stories passed down within families. "There's a lot of rooted people who have been here for generations and still work at the same farm. But the school system is one of the big draws," says Realtor Chuck Hammond of Realty One Group Advisors, who has sold homes here for decades. He adds that proximity to major cities appeals to those seeking a quiet country lifestyle. "A lot of people who live here work in Philly."

Historic homes and quiet life on the homestead
Homes in New London Township sit along winding roads edged by thick rows of mature pines and oaks. Neighbors may live on an acre or more, with lots backing up to serene farmland. Ranch-style homes, historic farmhouses, split-levels and Colonial Revivals from the 1980s to the 2010s have a foothold here. The oldest properties date back to the 1700s. Most homes range from around $400,000 to $750,000. Fixer-uppers start in the $200,000s, and luxury estates can fetch over $2 million, but those are outliers. Neighbors grow their own food, and some raise livestock. "I had a duck that lived at my house for five years," Hammond says. "I'd say 'Charlie' and he'd come out of the pond and run up the yard. We'd put him on our deck at nighttime so the fox wouldn't get him." The township's CAP Index Crime Score is 1 out of 10, well below the national average of 4.
