Wykagyl Crossways has historic architecture with access to shopping and recreation

Wykagyl Crossways, 23 miles from New York City, is an affluent suburban community known for its historic architecture and large lots. “Lots are bigger and there’s more privacy for each property. The properties there are more mature and vary in design,” says Yin Chen, a Realtor with R2M Realty, Inc., who has worked in the industry for over 15 years. Most roadways within Wykagyl lead directly to North Avenue, a commercial street bordered by restaurants and strip malls. The Nature Study Woods make up the neighborhood's west side, forming a buffer between residences and the busy Hutchinson River Parkway.

Shopping and dining along North Avenue and White Plains Road

“New Rochelle is very, very convenient, there’s a big selection of restaurants with diverse cuisines to choose from,” says Chen. “There’s North Avenue and then shopping, major supermarkets and chain stores downtown.” North Avenue has sidewalks, and most residents can walk to nearby restaurants. Less than a mile away, the Quaker Ridge Shopping Center has a collection of retailers and eateries, such as Sakana Japanese Cuisine for sushi and other seafood dishes. There’s also an ACME market for groceries. Across the street, The Wooden Spoon serves American comfort food in a rustic diner with metal street signs decorating the walls. Next door, Deanna’s Pizzeria & Restaurant serves pasta, calzones and other classic Italian comfort food.
Costco Wholesale and The Home Depot are 6 miles away. For more shopping and dining, White Plains Road is 2 miles away, with strip malls housing retailers and chain restaurants. It also has The Fresh Market and Trader Joe’s for groceries.

Within the neighborhood, most roads connect directly to North Avenue, a bustling thoroughfare lined with retail plazas and restaurants, such as Traditional Bagel Cafe.
