Glasgow is a community located in New Castle County, Delaware. During the Revolutionary War, a famous battle known as the Battle of Cooch’s Bridge took place here. Today, residents of this peaceful suburb can enjoy the various walking and biking paths that stretch across the community.

Houses in the neighborhood have a cohesive appearance, marked by brick exteriors and open front porches supported by columns. Many homes have sizeable yards with plenty of elbow room. The housing includes a collection of styles, from modest ranches and Cape Cods to split-level houses. Contemporary homes show colonial elements, such as simple lines and windows with shutters. The area has several subdivisions that blend rural and suburban charms. The development of Brennan Estates offers convenient amenities such as playgrounds, pools and tennis courts. The Cascades caters to a retiree lifestyle and contains new constructions. Houses in Glasgow are often valued between $350,000 to $800,000, depending on the subdivision and build year. The Farmington subdivision has some of the community’s most expensive homes, which enter the market from $600,000 to $800,000. Townhouses share colonial aesthetics with brick and lapped siding exteriors. Most townhouses list in the $200,000s to the upper $400,000s for newer properties.

Glasgow students can attend one of two school districts, depending on their area of residence. Olive B Loss Elementary is a top-rated school in the Appoquinimink School District that earned an A-plus and the No. 2 spot for best public elementary schools in the state, according to Niche. Those in the Christina School District may attend William B. Keene Elementary, rated B-minus on Niche. These students may move on to Gauger-Cobbs Middle School, which has a C on Niche. Glasgow High, ranked C-minus, offers an Early College Leadership Academy as well as several learning pathways, including culinary arts, biomedical sciences, visual arts and finance. Some students within the Christina School District may qualify for the School Choice initiative. Parents may also choose among the private options, such as Caravel Academy or Glasgow Christian Academy.

Locals frequent Glasgow Regional Park for its many recreational amenities. There is a walking path, a play area, and covered picnic tables to enjoy the sun. Sporty residents may practice their jump shots on the basketball courts or their backhand swing on the tennis courts. Locals can catch air at the onsite skate park, and the dog park is a dedicated area to play fetch off-leash. Next to the green space is Sunset Lake Preserve, a prime location during hunting season. Those who enjoy disc golf visit Iron Hill Park. At Bear-Glasgow Family YMCA, residents can attend fitness classes, use the indoor gym, and attend swim lessons during the summer. Bordering the community to the south is another sizeable outdoor recreation space, Lums Pond State Park, a popular spot for an array of activities, from ziplining, horseback riding, and camping to fishing and boating.

Locals can travel along Pulaski Highway or Route 896 for groceries and shopping. Shoppers can pick up prescriptions at Walgreens Pharmacy and restock pantry items at ShopRite to the north. The community has shopping centers and plazas that are brimming with businesses. Peoples Plaza has column-lined walkways leading to storefronts and restaurants. Here, locals can find a Safeway supermarket and casual dining spots like McGlynns Pub, Tikka Masala or Joy Luck. The Plaza also has a theater complex inviting residents to watch a movie after dinner. To the north, on Pencader Drive, are two breweries. Autumn Arch Beer Project has live music and trivia nights, while patrons at Midnight Oil Brewing Company can play retro-style arcade games; both establishments are dog-friendly.

Commuters can take the DART bus to travel around the area. Glasgow borders the Maryland state line to the west, and locals can take Interstate 95 to reach Wilmington, about 20 miles away.
