Location, value and a tremendous medical center
While Weequahic has gone through many changes throughout its long history, it has consistently remained a hub of classic housing styles, the proud home of the Newark Beth Israel Medical Center and the scenic Weequahic Park and Lake. “I tell my clients that it’s a neighborhood with a great location and is a hidden gem for its properties,” says Shawn Chaconas, a Realtor with Compass New Jersey who has been selling real estate in the area for nine years. “Whether someone is looking to purchase a single-family home or a multi-family investment property, this neighborhood has it all. It is located near multiple major highways and minutes from Newark Liberty International Airport. These two aspects are the neighborhood's biggest draw, especially for those who must drive into work and those who like to travel.”

In my area most of the time things are somewhat peaceful but one will find large groups of people on the corners most of the time during the day and late evenings. In different times of the year, mostly around the winter, people often get robbed.

They have a lot of decent houses in my area. But also there are a number of vacant houses as well.
