Incorporated in 1816 as a farming community, Corinna maintains the benefits and charm of rural living while keeping up with the times, creating a place residents are happy to call home. Early to mid-1900s homes line streets that lead to surrounding rural towns and larger Maine cities. “We offer the same amenities as a lot of the other rural communities in the area, but we also have some light manufacturing, which you do not see a lot of; being a rural town, we also do not have any fast food or anything like that,” says Lois Jones, the Town Manager of Corinna, who has been serving the community for almost five years. “We are also going to be celebrating the opening of our new playground later this year.” Many homes are a short drive away from The Farmer’s Table, the only restaurant in town, as well as outdoor recreation at the Boardwalk Loop Trail and Corinna Community Center. Additional forests, ponds, and farms can be found at almost every turn. The community is then tied together with a town office. With an appearance unlike other buildings in the area, the town office is at the center of town, both literally and figuratively. The red brick building with a towering steeple serves as a common gathering space for community events throughout the year.

Corundel Lake trails and local community centers
The Boardwalk Loop Trail is a half-mile hiking trail with a bridge leading over a dam at the southern end of Corundel Lake. “It’s a really good area for birdwatching,” Jones says, “we are also working on a number of additions to the park, from trail extensions with some exercise equipment alongside.” Jones also said they are working on a self-rental kayak launch right along the water. The Corinna Community Center is right off Stetson Road and is home to a playset and several sports fields alongside an indoor gymnasium for recreational sports leagues for all ages. Fishing and hunting are also popular recreation options in the rural town, with fly fishers and anglers being able to hook trout and bass along the ponds and streams in and around the town and hunters being able to test their skills against deer as well as the occasional moose or bear.

Large rural lawns and historic Maine homes
Corinna primarily consists of ranch-style and Colonial Revival homes, with a couple of Cape Cod and saltbox houses scattered along the quiet streets. They can then continue to Nokomis Regional Middle School, which receives a C rating, and finish at the B-rated Nokomis Regional High School, whose varsity softball team just won the 2024 state championship. Jones also said the high school was the previous home of Cooper Flagg, a rising star in the basketball community projected to be the No. 1 draft pick in 2025.
The Sebasticook Valley Elementary School serves over 300 students.

3 state routes through Corinna’s core
Travel is a necessary part of life in Corinna. The town is about 7 miles from cities like Dexter and Newport and 35 miles from larger destinations like Bangor. The town is connected to these hotspots with three state routes: Routes 7, 222, and 43, which all meet in the town’s center and streamline the daily commute and travel for residents. “If you needed to walk, you could, but otherwise, you do need to drive,” Jones says. The Pittsfield Municipal Airport is 14 miles to the southwest, and the Northern Light Sebasticook Valley Hospital is about 12 miles away.

Small town, significant events
The town of Corinna has several events throughout the year despite the town’s small size. One of the larger events is Corinna Days, which takes place over three days in August and includes a parade, craft fair, antique car show, and food options like “classic burgers and hotdogs and the fire department’s chicken BBQ,” Jones says. The town also hosts a Summer Concert Series at the town’s band shell, where local bands take on a variety of genres, from country western to folk and rock and roll. The Stewart Library is home to more frequent events throughout the year, with summer programs for all ages focusing on children and students to the local theater group that puts on 4-5 plays a year in the town’s auditorium. The library also has the town’s museum with documents and photos noting the town’s over 200-year history.
The Farmer's Table
The Farmer's Table is the only restaurant in Corinna, but it is popular enough that locals from all around enjoy stopping by for a bite to eat. The restaurant is known for its fresh, locally sourced ingredients and is especially popular for its seafood dishes and sweet treats like ice cream and baked goods. “It is a local spot that has been here longer than I have,” Jones says. Residents can grab daily necessities at Dollar General or head six miles to the Hannaford in Newport.
