At 230 acres, Webster Woods Conservation Area is the largest protected area in Newton. Most of the trails are natural, offering scenic escapes to residents. However, Flagler says there are efforts to make the area more walkable, particularly around Hammon Pond – a popular spot to fish, hike, rock climb or cross-country ski. “They’re adding sidewalks around the Hammon Pond area, along Hammond Parkway,” Flagler explains. “They lead from the park to the Chestnut Hill shopping area. It’s linking the area, making it more walkable.” Kids love the Thompsonville Playground, which sits in the center of the neighborhood, while families frequent Weeks Park, where there’s open space for dogs and children to play, as well as benches for relaxing or reading. Oakdale Woods Conservation Area is also in the neighborhood. This small area is a popular spot to sled in the winter or for a more secluded outdoor experience. The Shops at Chestnut Hill

Nearby, a range of dining options sit in a walkable plaza along Boylston Street, from high-end eateries like Legal Seafoods and Davio’s Northern Italian Steakhouse to casual spots like Shake Shack. There’s also a movie theatre in the area, as well as some boutique fitness studios. Nearby, Wegman’s and Star Market provide residents with options when grocery shopping.Neighborhood Farmers’ Markets

Both offer local Newton vendors, selling everything from flowers to produce to cheese to artisan goods.Getting around Thompsonville
“A nice thing about this area is that you don’t need a car to travel into Boston,” Flagler explains. In Newton Center, a Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority station – or the T, as locals call it – leads 12 miles east into Boston on the Green Line. The neighborhood is also close to the Massachusetts Turnpike and Yankee Division Highway, which will lead locals throughout the state. In case of emergency, St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center is about 4 miles northeast. And when it’s time to fly, the Boston Logan International Airport is about 14 miles east.Single-family homes and luxury condos
