Ranches to Colonial Revivals in Colliers nine neighborhoods
Residents who are 55-plus may reside in the Cloverleaf Community of ranch-style manufactured homes. Large Colonial Revival-style homes feature prominently in the Nevillewood neighborhood near The Club at Nevillewood. With the addition of Foursquare, Colonial Revivals continued into Walkers Mill, where the first settlers of Collier made their home. Smaller, contemporary homes in the split-level and ranch styles run along the gridded streets of Rennerdale and Ewingsville. Beechmont has flat-faced brick and vinyl-sided Colonial Revivals, townhouses, condos and apartment complexes. Homes have small lots and are built upwards in Presto and Kirwan Heights, featuring Foursquares and bungalows. On the opposite end, Hickman, one of the oldest parts of Collier, has vintage homes on large lots. Fort Pitt is similar to Hickman but with more contemporary housing. Condos and townhouses range from $250,000 to $350,000. Single-family homes range from $125,000 to $650,000, while large estates in the Nevillewood community range from $800,000 to over $2 million.Hilltop Park and Settler's Cabin Wave PoolParks
Located in the Nevillewood neighborhood, Hilltop Park has a picnic area and a playground. A 55-acre pathway through meadowlands, known as Meadow Path, connects Hilltop Park to the historic Woodville State Hospital Cemetery. CollierFest is a one-day festival in September that kicks off on a Friday with an event called "Cruisin' Collier Park." The festival is held the following Saturday and aims to bring the community together to enjoy live music, local vendors, train rides and a firework display. The Pittsburgh Botanical Garden offers yearly programs such as arts and crafts, tai chi, yoga and other wellness activities. For residents looking to attend religious services, there are three churches in the area: Hill City Church, Oakdale UP Church, Rennerdale UP Church and others outside the township.15 miles from Pittsburgh International Airport
Residents of Collier Township are car-dependent and utilize the interstates bordering the area. The interstates can be loud, but residents view it as more of a background noise. "Interstates echo," says Cable. "You could be far, and you could hear the echo of it. If you stop to think about it." Residents who wish to travel have a 15 mile drive to the Pittsburgh International Airport, with the only bus stops in the commercial area along Route 50.Proximity to shopping centers
For a taste of locally owned businesses, Two Brothers Bar-B-Q serves guests items like pulled pork sandwiches and a Shrimp and Bacon Po-boy. Residents of Collier Township enjoy the area for its proximity to many shopping centers. Smaller shopping centers include Collier Town Square and Chartiers Valley Shopping Center. The Great Southern Shopping Center has chain businesses like TJ Maxx/HomeGoods, Party City and Big Lots. This plaza also has a Texas Roadhouse for locals craving some of their fresh baked bread and cinnamon butter along with a Fresh Thyme Market for groceries.Important to know
Pittsburgh has all four seasons, and with that comes 40 inches of rainfall and 49 inches of snow yearly. Collier Township's Public Works department plows the roads during the winter months, and the town has a separate storm sewer system to mitigate flooding.
