Bruce’s Park is only two miles from the Virginia Zoo, which spans 53 acres and has over 700 animals. An aesthetic stroll can be found within the Chrysler Museum, where modern art encourages visitors to stop and ponder. The Chrysler Museum houses 5,000 years of art and is a must-visit for any resident. To find a good novel, residents go to The Jordan-Newby Anchor branch library at Broad Creek, which has two stories of books, a large children’s area, an art studio and a reading terrace with a community garden. The Kroc Center Hampton Roads has a splash pad for kids, a multi-lane pool for adults and state-of-the-art fitness equipment. Huntersville Park has a football field, tennis courts and a modern playground full of bright red equipment and unique climbing structures. Goff Street Park is comparatively more modest, with a small playground and walking path to enjoy. Sports are a big part of life here, whether playing or watching them. At the Scope Arena, 11,000 fans can catch a Norfolk Admirals hockey game. Harbor Park is home to the Norfolk Tides, and Baseball America once rated it the best minor league stadium in the country.

A public transportation hub

This neighborhood has access to Princess Anne Road, one of the most dependable strips for running errands or finding a place to dine. Route 58, or Virginia Beach Boulevard, offers an 18-mile route straight to Virginia Beach. Interstate 464 also allows residents to reach Chesapeake with an 8-mile drive. Hampton Roads Transit runs bus routes throughout Norfolk and the Hampton Roads area, allowing residents to get around with ease. The Norfolk Amtrak rail rattles through Bruce’s Park, and the station is only 1.5 miles south when residents want to take a spontaneous weekend vacation.
