Local sports bring the noise in Kingsridge
Local sports shape Normal’s Kingsridge neighborhood. Illinois State University’s football field, basketball stadium, baseball field and soccer field all sit in a cluster less than a mile northeast of Kingsridge. But the neighborhood's real pride is its youth sports field collection. Frank Harmison, owner of Kingsridge-based Ace Card Grading, says local families know one another, and youth sports teams are integral to the neighborhood’s identity. “When the eighth-grade girls’ basketball team at Kingsley Junior High won the state championship,” Harmison says, “I went and took pictures and made custom cards of the team and gave them to the principal to hand out. The kids really enjoyed that.”
With Hancock Stadium a short walk away, families never have to miss a Redbird game.
Baseball and softball are available for all ages at Maxwell Park.

Bloomington Knockers’ home field
Lying about a mile southwest of Kingsridge, White Oak Park holds a lake, a paved trail and a playground, but it’s mostly known as the home of the Bloomington Knockers, one of the city’s first youth football leagues. “That was my little league team growing up,” says Jaiden Snodgrass, RE/MAX Rising Realtor, who was also born and raised in Bloomington-Normal. “The team is still managed by the same family, the Segobiano family.” Two miles northwest of the community, little champions can practice their home runs at Maxwell Park’s Champion Fields or join a pickup game at the park’s basketball courts. The park also has a dog park, with separate areas for larger and smaller dogs.
