An affluent suburb in Northeast Norman
Hall Park stands out as a serene, well-maintained suburb in Norman, OK. As Jan Nelson, Realtor with Vawter Real Estate and a long-time Norman resident puts it, "It is an established, really homey, and friendly area." Kristina Moosavi, broker and owner of Re/Max Lifestyle, agrees, adding, "It's a more established area with a variety of options. And pretty much every street is a cul-de-sac, which is attractive to homebuyers."
Hall Park, known for its highly rated schools and quiet atmosphere, is also a practical choice for many. Its proximity to Sutton Wilderness Park, Griffin Community Park, Tinker Air Force Base, University of Oklahoma and Downtown Norman caters to the diverse needs and interests of its residents. Young families, retirees, Air Force workers and university professors find interest in this area. Hall Park is also home to the planned Hallbrooke community, an affluent subdivision with modern homes and a clubhouse.
Top-rated public schools
Kids attend Eisenhower Elementary, which boasts an A-minus rating on Niche and serves pre-kindergarten through fifth graders. Longfellow Middle School, serving students from sixth through eighth, maintains a C rating. For older students, there's Norman North High School, rated an A by Niche. This high school is renowned for its college prep focus and above-average SAT scores. The neighborhood is also just 4 miles northeast of The University of Oklahoma, which has an A rating on Niche and is named the 2nd best college in the state.
Mostly single-family homes
There is a mix of traditional and ranch-style homes that span the decades from the 1960s to the current day. "Most of the area is established, and you have some people updating the homes," Nelson says. "But they've also started some new builds in the last five years or so."
Most new-construction homes can be found in the Hallbrooke subdivision. Homebuyers interested in Hall Park will find that list prices can range from under $200,000 for a smaller, older home needing some TLC, to $800,000 for a larger, newly-constructed house in Hallbrooke. HOAs are the standard and can cost upwards of $575 per year.
Ample parks and greenspaces
At the end of a busy week, residents have a host of outdoor activities to choose from. For a quick escape, they hit the picturesque trails of Sutton Wilderness Park. The 155-acre greenspace offers plenty of space for bikers, joggers and walkers to get a slice of nature just a short walk form home. Hall Park Trails also offers a network of bike and walking paths that wind under large, leafy trees, over grassy greenbelts and vast ponds. By heading a mile west, residents enjoy all that Griffin Community Park offers, including an expansive soccer complex and the Norman Community Dog Park. They can also round up the kids and head to the neighborhood’s center for Northeast Lions Park to let them burn off energy at the playscape.
Nearby shopping and dining
For everyday essentials, residents head to the Walmart on 12th Avenue. The Homeland on East Almeda is a convenient place to stuff grocery carts with fresh produce. For frosty craft brews and crispy buttermilk fried chicken, they head to The Standard beer garden in Downtown Norman. For a different kind of brew, there's Gray Owl Coffee. There, residents can enjoy a piping-hot espresso and a freshly baked blueberry scone in a relaxed, hip, art-filled atmosphere.
Woodland Community Church and Hallbrooke Clubhouse
Wendy Welcher, a broker and owner of The Real Estate Counsel, describes the Hallbrooke Clubhouse as “The largest and nicest in North East Norman.” Exclusively for residents of Hallbrooke, this clubhouse features a lap-sized pool and event spaces. This is where the annual Holiday Festival and fundraiser for the art program at Norman North High School happens. For non-Hallbrooke residents, there is a recreation center on 12th Avenue with a daycare, basketball court, pickleball courts and meeting spaces.
Residents also appreciate having a local church. "The Wildwood Community Church is in the neighborhood. It has a big congregation and is a draw, too. People like living near churches and good schools," says Nelson.
A quiet area with few major roads
Hall Park is a driver-centric neighborhood. There are no public transportation routes within the neighborhood, nor are there paved bike lanes. Well-kept roads and paved sidewalks make it possible to walk over to a neighbor’s, but the most convenient way to commute is by car. East Rock Creek Road, 12th Avenue, East Robinson and 24th Avene border this community, providing access to nearby areas.
GreatSchools:
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
