“There’s many beginner post-World War II homes, as well as some nice, newer upscale homes,” says Patrick Hastings, an associate real estate broker with Howard Hanna. “It’s very affordable — the median sales price is lower compared to other nearby towns.” Home prices in North Gates range from $130,000 to $450,000, and the median single-family price is about $215,000. This is slightly lower than the median price for Monroe County and well below the national median. Buyers will find a market of classic midcentury ramblers and split-levels, built from the 1930s through the ‘80s. There are also a handful of newer Craftsman-style homes with attached garages available. Recent crime statistics for North Gates are not readily available.

Erie Canal Commons is a strip mall to the north with several fast-casual restaurants. “I was counting how many spots you can have lunch in Gates, I think it was more than 25,” Hastings says. “A lot of spots are by Gates Center, Buffalo Road and Pixley Road, with the Tinseltown theater and restaurants.” Cinemark Tinseltown Rochester and IMAX is along Pixley Road, screening the latest movies.
Gateway Plaza offers North Gates residents an eclectic selection retail stores and restaurants.

The nearest hospital is RRH Unity, affiliated with Rochester Regional Health, less than 2 miles north.
The Greater Rochester International Airport is less than 5 miles from the 19th Ward, and about 10 miles from downtown Rochester.
After a four-year renovation in 2014, Unity Hospital in Greece is now the only Monroe County hospital to feature all private patient rooms and free parking.
